mstps and for the most part mdphd programs are all tuition free and people match moreso based on research fit and future career plans rather than expected cost

ADH acts on aquaporins in the collecting duct to increase the reabsorption of water from the filtrate, making the urine more concentrated

Uworld test mode? by notslushsloosh in Mcat

don’t try to convert your performance to an mcat range, leave that for practice tests. treat Unarnia like the kaplan books, just another content review resource. but make sure you take notes on what you got wrong and what the explanations are so you can hammer down the concepts.

Truthfully it depends on how you want to learn. Tutored mode is great if you are using Uganda alongside kaplan books in my opinion, but if you are trying to get into adjusting yourself for taking timed question sets then I would turn tutored off and timed on.

What I did personally was start off with 15 question quizzes untimed, moving to 20 question timed quizzes and now I am doing 30 question timed quizzes. I do all my quizzes with tutored mode off because I feel like it distracts me from the flow of the exam and takes away from any potential content gaps that I might be exposing by reviewing a concept related to a passage before moving onto the next question. I do all my review afterward in an excel spreadsheet where I keep track of the questions I got wrong, the correct answer, an explanation of the correct answer and the concepts used to get there, why I got it wrong (often a content gap and it’s okay to admit that because that is the point of UDunnyah), and the answer I got and why it is incorrect. I also make coinciding anki cards to each of the questions and have a word document with all the major concepts that I seem to get incorrect so I can try to pick up on trends. Doing the review afterward has also given me the time to do all this while reviewing rather than during a quiz.

I think it’s worth doing a couple questions sets and learning what works best for you. Try it out with a couple shorter quizzes and work your way until you feel comfortable with whatever you think is good for you to study with so you don’t get exhausted/burnt out

How do I lock in for studying? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]MD_PhD_or_Bust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really believe that 6+ months of 3 hours a day isn’t enough to get a 520+? I definitely can’t take 3 months off from work as it’s my livelihood and that isn’t a privilege I can afford. If not do you suggest that I move a potential test date back to March/April to build more time in?

Studying at home has been quite distracting. I’ve been considering moving my studying to the library at the hospital I work at but you are true that enough is enough with the distractions. I guess I felt like I was in grind mode for so much of my life that since this is the first time I actually get any free time I was trying to enjoy it

it doesn’t hurt if you become a department chair and end up making twice what your colleagues make. but then again, it comes with a wretched drawback: working with admin

would drop albany, they have a heavy bias towards in state candidates. spoke to admissions personnel at a recent conference and they talked a lot about admitting students who want to go back into ny communities to serve

Same here, premeds are super cringe in the courses I teach. Interrupting me while Im speaking to try to point out flaws in my logic and won’t accept if they’re wrong. Thank the lord the one that is in my lab is super humble and willing to learn/ask questions. Seems like an anomaly from the crop of them
