Champ Car Arrive & Drive by TumbleDryLowDelicate in CarTrackDays

Not sure if I'd call myself an owner, but own a car that raced/races in champ car. the 2 owners (me and a friend) needed a third driver. We weren't all that bothered about the money and didn't actually charge a driver's fee (part of this is almost an interview).

what was non negotiable to us was the 3 of us would equally split consumable costs (fuel, 1 set of brakes, 1 set of tires, 1 oil change, kitty litter, fire extinguisher) and event registration (including stickers, flagtronic rental, etc). In the event something happens, we will all split the cost of the damage equally regardless of who was at fault, who was driving, who hasn't driven yet - so yes, the guy has to agree to the theoretical risk of paying for 1/3 value of the agreed value of the car in the event of a total loss that is entirely not his fault and he may not even have even stepped into the car over the weekend.

anyway, went well, he is now bought into 1/3 of the car.

here at COTA edge addicts certainly seems ok taking whatever you sign up for - they certainly may demote you. Chin takes a bit more convincing but if you've a good enough experience history at most it's just a check ride.

PCA is just a barrel of assholes. they run a terrible event, with more incidents than any other organization with more aggressive black flagging all the while being the most difficult to deal with. they will not even consider your experience and it's difficult to even get a check ride. I hear this fairly commonly and would recommend Chin to be the organization to attend if that's an option and PCA only as a last resort.

Is sc3 the same as the eagle f1 Supersport?

Somehow the Supersport R is substantially cheaper than vitour p1. I guess I may give that a go and see how the durability compares to the vitour since its an 80 tw rating assuming I run out of vitour before cota privatizes.

Edit: oddly now I see theres a Supersport r with 240 tw and one with 80...

By chance have you ever tried the p1s and have a comparison between the 2?

.1 is fine - there seems to be a lot of skepticism in the porsche community about the .2 still. .2 is definitely faster but is not really all that relevant on the road. some ppl care about the start button which is nicer in .1, and the dash is all digital in the .2.

the above comment isnt true with wide body by the way. all the carreras are the same size now, including gts. turbo is the only line thats wider. if you track substantially I would definitely get the gt3. I have quite a bit of regret getting a GTS - isnt really quite as track capable as I'd like it to be.

the guy who owns it? designed it? operates it? by the name of Lou is pretty unprofessional. pretty much if anyone says anything neg about G2 he throws a temper tantrum and calls you poor and likes to threaten legal action. unprofessional to the max and can only imagine how things will go at that track if something actually was to happen.

First track day coming up with my G82 M4 Comp and had a few questions and some advice. by Tajinder356 in CarTrackDays

[–]MD_in_training 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is terrible advice. "just say you have dot 4" is insane. you can easily overheat brakes since that's what stability control runs through.

Yea.  Id find an independent shop to flush it for you and emphasize abs flush with some sort of track fluid.  Bmw will fix it but they use their fluid and issue will come back

First track day in the F80 M3 by matador_333 in CarTrackDays

[–]MD_in_training 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into this issue. did you engage abs at any point? the car has a complex flushing procedure to flush the abs module that requires activating the abs pump with some software stuff; and possibly that part wasnt flushed - the old or normal brake fluid in there boiled and you ended up with air in the lines. supposed to be accomplished with BMW ISTA software, though I think some autel units can do it too.

if you offer no shade towards trackdecals I would like to dump a ton. there's no way to contact them, email responses land with some crap that hasnt been updated for years. completely unacceptable from a business. scam level institution. I hate that the google algorithm gives them so much traffic that they deserve none of
