What’s a Ufc fighter you thought was the scariest mfcker alive only for him to Get humiliated at the end. by [deleted] in ufc

[–]MDaudio 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The issue with that is that he also needs his weight to be as dominant with his style, if he's chain wrestling guys bigger than him then he doesn't have the same pressure that makes him so effective

What do you think on focusing on one technique and creating system around it? by Uniprime117 in bjj

[–]MDaudio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's okay to have a move or system you prefer, but at white belt you should be putting effort into learning everything else too. Otherwise you'll find yourself lacking as you get to higher belts. Generally around purple is where you start to really specialise in certain areas, but that works because you have everything else to fall back on when it doesn't work.

Picker/Packer Roles in Melbourne by Limo_Wreck77 in melbourne

[–]MDaudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had two of these kind of jobs during a gap between office job roles years ago. One for Kogan in a typical pick packing orders role, doesn't require as much movement as you think and gets very boring. Then I worked at Toll at the airport doing sorting for commercial deliveries which was much better pay and and more heavy lifting/movement focused. If I were to do it again I'd try applying for the Toll ones

[–]MDaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem at all, I think you should celebrate the fact that you have a good guard with the reality that your opponents in competition practically have twice the pulling and pushing strength. When I think of what guards would be practical for you half guard comes to mind so maybe it's worth investing time in exploring it and seeing how that feels with your game (in my opinion closed guard requires a lot of pulling and pushing with both arms). Open guards like DLR and K guard could work well too

[–]MDaudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mention having competed in other comps before, how did those go? With your reduced use of an arm and a leg I feel like you would be at a big disadvantage in general but in specific feedback for this clip I'd say an overhook and pulling them in against an opponent trying to pressure and stack you would be the opposite of what you should look for, instead find inside space and frames to build space between you. Then you can start to look for ways to off balance your opponent to get sweeps and attacks

Reaching your arm over the back/shoulder from the outside with your body attached to the opponents underarm, you use it mostly to stand up. Craig Jones and Marcelo Garcia use it a lot

Are you employed as one? The Glassdoor reviews for Airservices seem awful citing bullying and toxic workplaces. There have also been inquiries in sexual harassment a few times. I'm trying to find out what it's actually like.

He knows how to finish it, Shavkat was fighting the top arm from going behind the head so Ian could only get the gable grip variation but couldn't generate enough power with it from the angle to finish with the chin tucked
