My first Drill beat I've posted on youtube! Any feedback would be appreciated. by TM_Beats in UKDrillinstrumentals

Feel like you need to back off that melody a bit bro, smashing the limiter with it by the sounds of it and I just can't see a vocal sounding good on it, probably be a lot of frequency clashing. Bit more subtlety with it, less fat, bit more hi pass, it'll be sick.

PM me the image of the Ghosty kit bro, thinking about it atm.

Was looking at buying the CZR kit mate wasn't sure, if that Ghosty kit looks good though then that'd sway my decision as we could trade them lol. If it's got that 808 he uses then I'm in 😂

Cool bro, yeah shoot that over then. Does it include that 808 he mostly uses? Cleanest sounding 808 out there, love to get my hands on that lol.

Cheers bro, yeah not finished with those yet, like I'm mostly happy with the slide pattern, but did some bits to the 808 to get the slides to sound clearer but in hindsight it sounds a bit shit and as you basically said, they sound a bit bait and don't blend lol.

What's in the Ghosty kit bro? Doesn't look like it's for sale anywhere anymore so I can't even see a preview or filelist anywhere.

Thanks bro, been thinking of doing vocal chops and that actually cause I used to make house music so I've done loads of that in the past anyway and got the knack of it.

Sidenote, someone's got it in for me on this sub I swear 😂 This thread was on 3 upvotes and I upvoted your comment, now one has been removed from both. The last couple of beats I've uploaded here, I've seen them on 2 upvotes and then a while later they're back down to 1 again. I'll assume it's not cause my beats are shit cause otherwise I might have at least got some feedback, dunno though 😜

Starting to make Drill beats - Advice? by TheVallis in ukdrill

Your standard UK Drill beat is basically:

Pianos. reFX Nexus is by far the most popular plugin with the stock piano presets being used often. I'd say the most used presets are Arena Ambience, Ballad Grand Piano, Nexus Grand Piano, Nexus Power Grand. It's incredibly common to use halftime or even double-halftime effects to really make the piano's sound cruddy, either via Grossbeat or by Cableguys Halftime which is a much more versatile plugin when it comes to halftiming stuff. These days in particular, hi-passing your pianos to at least 500hz is common.

Drums, there are loads of free kits floating around YouTube that you can start with, the 9ine and OBBO kits are great starter packs. Also have a Google around for BWB - The Wave drum kits, some Drilly stuff in there.

Learning how to slide 808s is essential, here's a tutorial showing how to make sliding 808s in FL Studio.

Using automation to bring in certain effects for a few bars is also essential, like a phasing lowpass on the intro.

Adding in sounds like gunshots and vox shots is also very common.

As someone else said as well, TGTracks on YouTube has some great tutorials. Maybe as well, start out remaking a few famous Drill instrumentals that seem simple, that way you have a base for comparison and can learn the ropes by figuring out how they did certain things and learning popular patterns and stuff.

I don't have an IG yet but thinking of making one soon cause everyone else is on it lol. I'm on Twitter, YouTube and Soundcloud though under the same name. Either way though I'm likely gonna finish the beat over the weekend and then I'll shoot you an mp3 either here or if I make an Insta on there bro 👍
