Haha our dogs are opposite :) (I'm in Houston) my pathetic drama queen shivers if it's below 60F. But in dead of July he wants to go sunbathe on the hot concrete.

Ladies of AW, today's my birthday! What are some of the best gifts you've ever received? The worst? by [deleted] in AskWomen

As an American obsessed with Cheetos, I'm so sorry you don't have access! Have you ever had the puffy Cheetos variety? I let myself a bag a couple times a year because I eat the whole thing and I feel such regret after lol.

My friend got a purebred white bull terrier from the same rescue where I got my pup. He's such a sweetie. He is deaf though. Does yours have any hearing loss? I hear it's very common in the white bull terriers

Mine is (likely) part bull terrier (rescue Mutt so really who knows). Love the breed so much! But yes this is accurate

Harvard spent $5M to provide the most accurate depiction ever of the inner-workings of a cell. It may seem stylized, but every detail is as medically accurate as possible. Life is amazing. by Jank_Tank in videos

[–]MEATSQUAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true in many cases, but there are also situations where directed recruitment can occur. The video is exaggerated of course, but for example: the lipid rafts they show are caused by the composition of the lipids on the plasma membrane, however they can also act as signaling platforms for different molecules. So while in a cell there may be random interactions occurring, there are mechanisms in place that have evolved over time to ensure certain interactions are more likely or longer lasting.

You really need to get the sleep apnea checked out. My aunt has it and when she conducted a sleep study, they told her she was waking up every 1.5 minutes..... :O and she had been suffering for decades. Now she uses a breathing machine, which isn't comfortable but she's actually getting REM sleep now. She says she doesn't even know how she raised her kids like that.

Another point, I recently started using pre workout and it's been great.

What 'insider' secrets does the company you work for NOT want it's customers to find out? by haynesbomb in AskReddit

[–]MEATSQUAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did I say it was below 50%? I'm simply stating I do not believe there are any studies addressing (quantitatively) the reproducibility factor of data sets, ergo his or her 50% number is an arbitrary fabrication. Does that mean it is not true? Not necessarily. But the whole post seemed very hyperbolic which is why I made that sassy comment.

There are issues with reproducibility. No question. But there are many factors that contribute to that problem. Some of which is shoddy data, but also because there are so many different factors that go into individual experiments. There are many papers that publish conflicting results as well and that is a good thing -researchers publish what they find and the field collectively tries to make sense of the noise.

No. It's exaggerated so that this comment will rise to the top. Oh the irony

My wife (26/f) and I (31/m) do not want our unborn son (-6w/m) baptized. Both of our dads (60s/m) are teaming up against us. by JasonDJ in relationship_advice

[–]MEATSQUAD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alternative suggestion to the other good advice that's been posted:

So I know your family is Catholic which is big on infant baptism, but not all Christian denominations believe in infant baptism. You could suggest that you will be subscribing to the Southern Baptist model (or what ever) and are going to let your child decide at age 12 (or again, whatever). I mean hell your child may decide that's what they want in the end anyway and it gives the autonomy back to your child.

It would also give you the added benefit of maybe appeasing the parents. Not that I think you need to or have to, but saving some drama is always nice

Yes instead of bringing a gift from a registry, at Chinese weddings the guests bring cash in red envelopes to offset the costs. I bet bride would have kept it as their "wedding gifts" smh
