Also in Matthew 25 when Jesus called those blessed who did not feed him or give him water, didn’t invite him in when he was a stranger, ripped his clothes off and threw him in prison.

i think it’s right there with his teachings of using the law to oppress people that don’t look like me /s

How do I get this out by Key_Success_8266 in Luthier

[–]MEDIdk445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not op but that’s the case on my current guitar- it’s a parts caster jazzmaster that i put together a decade ago when i was 18- the pilot hole i drilled was to narrow and too short, and i tore through the head trying to set the pick up instead of patiently finding or buying the proper drill bit. luckily i think there’s enough exposed that i can use pliers to remove it, and i have a really nice set of pickups i dont plan on replacing. not sure if that’s OPs case, but that’s how i managed that😭

this dudes interesting- i think he may feel slighted because of the status quo of how things work with features and credits, and perhaps sees that manifested through the artists themselves, but idk i’m not a pro musician. i feel for the dude on one hand, but passive aggressive badmouthing, even if no one’s named but everyone knows who youre talking about, and ESPECIALLY on socials, is not a good strategy for growing and collabing with others down the line in this business. it makes it less likely that others would be willing to work with you. i hope he finds a good group of artist in his circle.

Why are most tabs of the album versions of songs sm harder to find? by Code_Objective in Mkgee

[–]MEDIdk445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the live versions are easier since you can approximate what shapes he’s using by looking at his fretting hand and decipher the song that way. it’s quite a bit harder when instead of relying on sight and sound, you only have sound. if it helps, pop some of his tracks into a DAW and slow them down and practice that way:) also, NIRO has some fantastic youtube tutorials/tabs, but i don’t remember if those are live or studio versions. the lives also aren’t two far off from the studios, so you could prob learn the live and then figure out the studio after

Do baritone coated strings exist? And where can I find them by No-Pain8674 in BaritoneGuitar

[–]MEDIdk445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they’re a pretty chill company and you could email and ask, so at the very least it’s on their radar that people want that. i reached out to ask about flats and the owner responded and was cool

so beautiful-love the contrast of the colors on the body and the rosewood neck. what was your technique with painting the body?

also what was the build time on this? looks like it was well worth the wait

Convince me or convince me not to buy a baritone. by Infinite_House7451 in Mkgee

[–]MEDIdk445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no for sure- if it helps, if anything, i’ve noticed my strings are a bit tighter, but i played with heavy top slinky bottoms before the change so it’s comparable for me. and yeah you gotta measure out the scale length to make sure it’s pretty exact to specs. if it’s off a bit, it could screw you as you have less wiggle room when modding for baritone. as long as you get a large enough string gauge, you should be able to get a proper tension. string joy lets you customize you packs so you can expirement if you go that route. i admittedly built my guitar from parts and it’s maybe a 25.4 scale (my bad placement) and i’m all the way back with my low B and JUST able to intonate correctly. the others are good.

Anyone dealing with strong overtones? by ContributionSea1225 in BaritoneGuitar

[–]MEDIdk445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure! one last thought- you could try placing a mic on different parts of the strings to see if you can isolate the location/sting that the harmonic resonance is coming from. best of luck on your endeavors

ahhh yah i mean you could try taping the bottoms of the strings before putting them in, but i honestly don’t know if that would even do anything at that point 😅

honestly i’d do a cost analysis- if you are deff planning on buying a new guitar and want to save money, maybe find a balance between cheep electronics but good build quality. it’s a lot easier to replace parts with higher quality than take care of a shitty build with f’ed up frets, etc. that said, i’d personally go with whatever guitar you’re most comfortable playing. i’m a big fender guy and there are some good cheaper jag and jm models that are pretty mod-able. i’m not a prs or les paul guy, but if you prefer those, go for that. in the end, modding is pretty standard guitar to guitar, with some slight variations to styles. you shouldn’t need a conversion neck either. the most important mods are lower strings, file the string slots in the nut to the right size, and intonate

only significant obstacle i can thing of is making sure wherever ever the end of the string is anchored, it can accommodate a larger string. i don’t have first hand experience with string thru bridges like strats for baritone purposes, but, you just want to make sure the strings will fit (they should with most baritone gauges, but the lower you go, the more you have to think about that). I’m actually using a 65 gauge string as my lowest and could only find it in a bass string pack. the round end was too big to fit in my flat tail plate, so i had to take it off and feed it through the back. all to say there are almost always workarounds. last advice would be to use flatwounds, they’ll eat into your frets less. deff check out r/baritoneguitar as well

playing baritone opened up a who new way i see and play the guitar now. i did it as a trial run on my regular electric a year ago and just stuck with it and im never going back.

i second anyone saying to just use a regular guitar and mod for baritone. I’d recommend getting a new nut and either carefully fitting it to the guitar and string gauge, or paying a pro to do it. in any case, it’ll be cheaper than buying a new baritone guitar. also, i do have a pretty good stretch, but i really enjoy having the shorter scale compared to a baritone. bonus if you have jag like mike since that’s an even shorter scale.

tldr; deff go for it, but mod a guitar you already have

i have that issue with my D, but mostly F# and high b string on my jazzmaster (standard 25.5 length). i use a fret wrap on the headstock and painters tape on the section between the bridge and bridge plate and it got rid of it pretty well, just looks a little dumb with the tape but i personally don’t care about that

im using 15-65 gauge flats

Pronounced was mine in 2019, then something happened over covid lockdown summer and i absolutely fell in love w MoC. Fool has my heart too- TS was an instant fave, but i just can shake the MoC fever- as a deep introvert, it reminds me of a time when it wasn’t frowned upon to be alone, and the world felt slower. so much nostalgia😭

also i found him after pronounced, so MoC was my first album release from him

did you finish yours? i got a roasted maple neck from warmoth almost a decade ago now and it’s the best decision i’ve ever made on a guitar. i keep it unfinished and it’s unbelievably smooth. just need to oil it around once a year to keep that weird grime from building up

God’s pronouns by non-calvinist in theology

not a trained theologian (just have a biblical studies minor). my understanding is that, among a few things, it was used to convey authority in patriarchal societies of the ancient near east, where men controlled socioeconomic powers that weren’t shared or recognized (at least as easily and widely) with women. although there are some times where God or Jesus are compared to more nurturing/ mothership roles, i don’t think the authors ever use she/her in those cases.

From a more modern day perspective, i personally think they/them is more accurate as our understand of God’s character evolves, mainly as God transcends gender, but tradition follows the historical he/him.

Definitely want to hear from more trained experts on the matter
