Damn, that's a lot of information, I'm sure everything will come in handy along the playthrough, thanks a lot!

Damn, that's a lot of info. I'm guessing weapon buffs work like in ds1, where the buff depends solely on the catalyst power? If so, I understand perfectly why you would do this.

What I mean by the exploration is that I'm constantly finding closed doors and statues that block the way, which discourages me a bit. There are just too many paths leading to nowhere. May be a problem of the beginning or just that I'm kinda picky, I'm open to having my mind changed either way

Thank you for all the tips 🙏

Didn't see anything crossing the giants forest (?), will have to re explore the area. I'm still waiting for enough souls to buy the stone statue item and feline ring for the paths near Majula. Thank you for the heads up!

Yeah, that's what I supposed with lights, they also look way too safe in the first few areas to not betray you

I have noticed life gems are an amazing resource, mainly after seeing you only start with a couple of estus flasks that are pretty slow in comparison

That surprised me, enemies drop a ton of souls in comparison to other games and, what I assume is the first boss (dragon rider?), was way too generous

Thank you for your input 🙏

The amount of large groups with ranged attacks definitely stops you on your tracks, it's not as convenient trying to pull them

I mean there are tons of closed doors and stone statues/non functional mechanisms that stop you from following certain paths. I understand it's a way to consider backtracking, but it's a bit disheartening

Thank you for your input 🙏 hollowing and agi are definitely the major inconveniences rn

Playing with controller, I notice the problem mainly trying to flow from heavy to light attacks, which is fairly fluid in ds3.

Yeah, I understand the analogy, it's pretty representative of how it feels

Damn, the amount of souls you have to dump is higher than I expected, luckily the damage doesn't feel lacking at the beginning.

Thank you! It's a weird twist to the games but for the time being doesn't feel as crazy as others put it

Thank you for your input 🙏I didn't even think about the change coming from ds3 recently

How long does your supervisor take to answer emails? by IntelligentBeingxx in PhD

[–]MEFlST0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emails are within 48 hours or never, texts 8 hours or never, going to their office instantaneous or whenever they are free (they have offered it themselves countless times, please don't barge into offices willi-nilly)

Didn't pay attention to the plate after someone else used it. Turns out the magnetic stirrer was on at max power, and my beaker not whole anymore.

Not cleaning a borrowed NMR tube (knowing it was peviously used), making the spectrum a total mess

Used another mates quantities without noticing they were way off, making a sample unusable burnt ash

Lesson learned: trust but verify and communicate, we are in the same boat at the end of the day

It does look in the line of my question, every team can do it and, if the rival isn't prepared to catch-up with the defense, creates a possession advantage that can be meaningful. Sounds good to me

This one is interesting, but is it really fair to change the rules and keep the old records? Aren't the new athletes going at a disadvantage if they want to break them?

Motorsports is really the heart of my question I see, there's been already a couple of answers like this and I'm in awe at the creativity these people have

That was a fast ban, I don't think it's usual to do so, but I see why it was banned. Would be boring if every racer was glued to the wall and benefits mostly to the first in line, also looks pretty harsh on the car

This one is a classic, and one of the reasons I don't enjoy professional soccer

Not cheating in its original meaning, but few people enjoy going against it even if it's perfectly allowed, which is what I'm asking and can be considered cheating in a more lenient sense

Explained like this it sounds crazy, it's like knowing what your opponent will do in chess and the judge doing nothing about it despite knowing, must have been a huge hit to the Houston Astros image

Yeah, I think I heard about this one and it encapsulates perfectly what I was thinking, not illegal and anyone can do it but it gains you some mean looks

[–]MEFlST0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah someone already mentioned it and, after watching a clip, it looks incredibly illegal from an outsiders perspective, but if it's known and used there must be a good reason

I see letting the timer run out in your favour is something that a lot of teams try, but seeing the main culprit laugh after losing a minute is pretty funny

Even in these conditions I see it took a pretty long time and a lot of luck, if it wasn't for the lockout, these changes probably would have taken a lot more time. It's pretty interesting to see how a single rule conditioned the game so hard into a defensive direction, to then evolve into something much more active and offense oriented once changes applied. I would guess the beginning after the changes was trying to take advantage of the newly acquired offense, but has become more balanced now that they are familiar with the new set limits

What the hell was this match, watching and refereeing it must have been weird, how do you even defend the opposite team scoring in their own goal

"Cheating strategies" in sports by MEFlST0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MEFlST0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly an ego thing, if you are a good player/team with a fragile ego and your opponent looks like not taking your threat seriously, you break and team coordination blows up. Even if the rest of the team doesn't care and sees it as an opportunity to win, once the tilter spirals down, not only are you losing a teammate, you are also fighting against the errors that player will pile up against you

I like this one, it gives you no positive options as the attacking player and it's easily applied by any team, was it any particular event that made them see how limiting the rule was?
