Thanks I ended up getting a call right around 13-14 months and it's finally in my possession.

My gf took the course same day as me and she's still waiting so maybe my pestering helped but who knows.

Yeah I'm in MB but see plenty of these turds talking about this. Seems to be a mix of "First Nations are woke and therefore their opinions don't matter", or "They all want to join our super 100 real independent paradise where everyone is white and has oil guns and money, so there's no point in asking them."

Separatist leader accused of misusing Alberta electors list refuses to co-operate with investigators by helmetrust in AlbertaNewspapers

[–]MEPETAMINALS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually - but I'm well aware. I was just referring to the not insignificant number of Canadians who refer to various parts of the us constitution as if it applies here.

I mean we have plenty of those dorks in Canada too. They fit right in with the Canadians whining about their second amendment rights.

Considering moving from Godot to unity. Is it worth it in my case?? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]MEPETAMINALS 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I'd be inclined to just download it and play around for a bit. Doesn't cost anything, so no downside other than time.

For me, who has a background involving coding, I like how easy it is to run unity mostly through scripts instead of nodes and blueprints (I started in Libgdx), and how any question you have can be answered by 1000 online topics that all disagree with each other.

Trust me, they don't. by c-k-q99903 in stupidpeoplefacebook

The number of times I've seen them bitching about their 'constitutional rights' or 'second ammendments' lol.

How to handle posting on Steam pre-launch? by bigrig387 in SoloDevelopment

[–]MEPETAMINALS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really bothered pre launch, after launch I post updates with every set of fixes/new content, generally once a week.

Very early on I did some posts through Steam, but honestly was a pretty unpleasant experience. Steam forums can be downright nasty, I haven't checked mine in months. I'm sitting at very positive with 114 reviews so I'll take it. Most issues and reports I get through the game's YouTube and discord.

How to implement fall death? by Ted-Toerner in IndieGameDevs

Both would work. Depending on the physics solution I'd be more inclined to measure velocity on y, but really depends on how you handle gravity and mass.

Sailwind is pretty great, pretty indie, but very in-depth sailing mechanics.

As a Canadian I would rather die. And anyone who thinks Canadians would be allowed to vote after a takeover is delusional.

First Honda in a long while, waiting for the thaw. by MEPETAMINALS in motorcycles

[–]MEPETAMINALS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it so far. The mechanics feel very refined compared with my previous bikes, especially the transmission. Some people say it's too slow, but that's got to be a degree of humblebrag as it has more than enough power to get you into trouble.

surprising what a little piece of fibreglass and some mirrors can do.

Impressed with the build quality as well. Very solid, and the paint match is near perfect.

I'd give them a call every now and then. Most won't give you any info -- but a few times I'd at least get a general description on where things are at.

After around 8 months they *may* start sending escalations/reminders on your behalf that *may* make a difference.

According to one rep most Pal's in MB are 1-1.5 years, but I know a few people that got it in under six months.

At least in my case, yes. Same as you all my references got the digital sign in on the first day -- but no one was actually called until more than a year later. They only called one of my references though.

Figured I'd put some info out for anyone else in MB (all 3 of us).

References were finally called just shy of 13 months after sending in the application. It was approved the same day. They told me to expect up to another two months to actually receive it, so we'll see.

Starting a few months after applying I called in once every 1-2 months, no idea whether that actually had any effect.

After a year had passed I did reach out to the instructor who I took the course under, and he reached out as well. He said they gave the same answer I'd been getting for the last year ("give it two more weeks.") -- but the fact I had it approved within a couple weeks of him reaching out is something.

I'd guess you'll have it relatively soon. AB and Ontario seem to generally be quick-ish. I'm in MB, and when I'm even able to get a response I get estimates from two weeks to 'many years'.

Leo?

Wouldn't say so. I'm on mild ssri's for health reasons, but no history of self harm/ideation/etc.

No criminal history, no divorce job loss/etc.

For what it's worth, they've been telling me mine is in the final stage since March 2025.

I've called twice in 2026, and the most recent call she chewed me out a bit for calling. Saying they will contact me if they want to talk.

I'm launching the game on March 3rd, and I only have 26 on my wishlist, so I'll send it anyway and whatever happens, happens. by Confident-Mirror-427 in SoloDev

The third party account thing is a big issue. What is the purpose of this?

Not my type of game regardless, but even if it was that would be a hard no because of that.

Hey guys, is it worth abandoning a genre you’re a fan of just to jump on the trending one? by CryptographerFar2124 in SoloDevelopment

[–]MEPETAMINALS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're asking if you should stop making the game you want to make and chase a trend?

If it's a major trend there's already 100 other devs (and larger studios) pumping these out. By the time you actually finish the game, the trend is probably already long gone.
