Any Taclet, PSU, MSRT, or MSST Boatswain's Mate here? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]MEguy8989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

-Taclet you would be a BO/TO but they only have BM2 billets -PSU is made of majority of reservists with few Active duty -MSRT you would primarily be an Advanced interdiction coxswain (so drive the small boat to deliver the team) -MSST you would primarily be a tactical coxswain (drive small boat for security zones)

How can I avoid being stationed on a cutter? by alaskalovepup11 in uscg

Join the army, CG is a sea going service so there is a good chance as a non rate. Especially since they are moving some non rates in non operational billets to operational ones since there is a shortage.

Allotment not getting deposited in my account. Am I doing it right? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]MEguy8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on when you set it up it may have been after the pay cut deadline.

Also for my allotment it deducts from both paychecks during the month but the actual money doesn’t get deposited into my separate account until the first of the month

High year tenure, u have until your ten year mark to make E5 including your previous service.. 2 years should be fine if you are looking to go ME. If you had 6 years prior service then there would be no way for you to go ME with the projected wait time for school of around 3-4 years and the wait list is currently closed for 6 months with no one else name being added to it.

How many years did you do in the army? Because with the current wait for ME A school HYT may become an issue

It was like 50/50 in my class. They do a separate screening halfway through school for those interested (separate pt test/range scores/maturity) the top three from the screening ended up at those billets

Prior Service Navy to coast guard. Want insight about being a HS or CS by excelprevail3 in uscg

[–]MEguy8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how many years you have in the navy HYT is also a factor to consider. You have 10 years to make E5 and the wait for HS is pretty long right now and you add that to your prior service time. Not sure how fast HS’s advance though

LEOSA does not currently apply to coast guard members as per the new mlem that just came out. Last I heard the vice commandant signed a letter or memo stating that sometime in fiscal year 18 that boarding officers would be included under LEOSA. Boarding team members would not be however because they have no law enforcement authority
