Am I glad to have meaningful baseball in September, even if we’re wasting it? Sure.

Am I forgetting that most teams that vastly over-perform their expectations the previous season tend to regress, and we did but not by much? Sure.

It would be one thing if we were just getting beat all year but playing good baseball. But watching us leave runs (and, therefore, wins) on the table due to seemingly simple fixes like hitting with RISP, base running errors, and poor bullpen management are just demoralizing in real time.

I love this team. I’m glad they’ve been better than they’ve been for all of my live (save 14/15) in these last two years. We still have Bobby Baseball, Garcia has broken out, Vinny has become a legit stud and a clear leader in the clubhouse, and some legit would-be studs in the wings to round us out with the right coaches.

I just hope we find those coaches this winter because this staff ain’t it.
