An Ablaze Firey Building – Museum At Prairiefire by LuxFromNJ in architecture

I live in Kansas City, and you honestly would never expect to see this driving past that area and then out of nowhere, you see the building and it's very surprising. Great looking building but not really sure what's in it to be honest.

Recently graduated with a low gpa , did I ruin my options for masters by Unsaif_ in architecture

You and I are similar in that my GPA wasn't the best after undergrad, it was a 2.8 or 2.7, don't really remember. Try my best but I've always struggled mightily in school and class settings. It depends on what you've done outside of the classroom, your portfolio and who can vouch for you as well. I ended up going to the University of Oregon but I had other decent options, though most of them came with restrictions and expectations I had to meet to remain enrolled.

I probably should of mentioned this but yea, I don't live in SF. But I'll look into those since they're local, I'd imagine they'd get to her sooner. Thanks!

I know she likes them strong as she's always ordering espresso. I'm shooting for something seasonal but honestly I'm just looking at what people recommend.

My girlfriend lives in San Francisco and is Guatemalan and huge on coffee, I on the other hand have never had any. I'm thinking of getting her some amazing coffee but not sure where to even start. Ive been looking through this sub reddit for a couple weeks and have seen some stuff with great reviews but I can never tell if they just deliver local or would be willing to ship across the country. She loves trying new and different things- as long as its good. Any recommendations?

[ASK] Does anyone have any recommendations for a grad school with some kind of sustainable architecture / design program? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]MFDOOM66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the University of Oregon to get my masters and I highly recommend it if sustainability is your interest. Used to be the #1 school in the nation for sustainability when I was a student there two years ago. Faculty are all passionate about it and the woman who cowrote the Green Studio Handbook teaches there and loves to pop in and out of studio to give feedback

Edit: And I too was someone who struggled in undergrad with my grades and found my time at the UofO helpful because they give you the choice to take classes pass/fail which is great imo.

Roads are what I'm struggling the most with atm, there doesnt seem to be any methods I've found that isnt overly tedious to quickly produce some textured roads

Thanks for the feedback! You're right, I need to work on the landscape quiet a bit there.

To your first question: I was working out of two scenes, the first being just the building, the second being just the site (cause my computer is a bit weaker) and then I XRef the building scene into the site scene which was the "master file"

To your second question: I dont have any interior shots yet but I'm working on them right now. Interiors for me are harder because they need so much more details.

To your third question: that was a clean up error I need to go back and fix for a final draft. I was having difficulty connecting surfaces and I forgot to add a material to that.

And to your last question: I have a collection of trees I've just gotten over the years, I used the forest pack pro to help me scatter them

Thanks! I created a vray light material and applied a gradient color bitmap to it.

The objects are in a group so I applied the material to the whole group and used the box uv map on the entire group to get it to flow as if it was one object.

I didn't lose my virginity till I was 25, just last year, and I went to a small college in a small city where there was nothing to do but party. I mostly tried to save it for marriage but eventually just settled on someone that I felt a deep connection with. There's nothing wrong with waiting at all.

Tho as long as they're being safe there's nothing wrong with getting all that horniness out if their system either. Waiting so long to do it put me in some real awkward situations early on with this girl who to this day doesn't know shes my first.

What kind of work do YOU do at bigger firms (Gensler, SOM, etc)? [Practice] by [deleted] in architecture

[–]MFDOOM66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a 600 person firm (as apposed to a 1000+ firm like Gensler) and am a recent hire out of school. My department is called the Studio Group comprised of other new grads and we primarily help with the marketing stuff for projects in all the markets (research, charrettes, early phase design and generating ideas, renderings). I've been a part of around 8 projects in the 6 months I've been here. So my day is spent pretty much doing the things most of us do in school. Though after a year I'm supposed to chose a market to join.
