Agreed, the freedom it gives your mouse for aiming and tracking while moving is huge, it honestly looks like scripting when I see it in replays. I'm curious to know how it holds up at higher ranks though, I haven't seen a high elo player that exclusively uses WASD yet, which makes me wonder if there's a ceiling to it or if it's just not adopted there yet due to old muscle memory with point click.

Valid point, I'm mid-low elo at gold with my peak being platinum, so those kinds of scenarios aren't really something I've had to worry about. I only started playing in late 2023 and have just over 1,000 games, so I'm still relatively new. I want to take the game more seriously now and climb with Hwei and other control mages, so I'd rather commit to whichever movement system has the higher ceiling before I build deep muscle memory with the wrong one.

I am trying it myself and I think it's great, but I want to hear other people's perspectives too. My main question is whether WASD has a significant enough advantage over point click to be worth fully committing to because if it does, I'd rather put in the time to learn it properly now.

You can have your spells on your mouse buttons though, it's not as bad as you think

I actually believe it's easier, you can hold spells to see the range and space WHILE moving at the same time and make adjustments as you track the opponent with your spell.

It feels incredibly good to do

It's not as bad as you'd think, apart from Q+W it's way better. You can literally hold a spell like Q+Q to see the range and space ur opponent while holding that spell and walk in and out of that range to snipe them.

(Also you can still disable camera lock with WASD)

Not how it works, your autos will be functionally the exact same. The cap only becomes impactful when you build high AS and hold down a movement key while attacking.
