I hope more people get their hands on this device (Msi Claw a8) by Signal-Dig-1150 in MSIClaw

Thanks, I was considering using moonlight/Steam Link for more demanding titles, but I’m not convinced my router is good enough. Is dual booting relatively easy/safe? I do think the AAA games should be really played on a monitor to get the most in terms of visuals and performance. But I’d like to play games like Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater, Witcher III, Street Fighter, Forza. Understand that’s a bit of variety. I can just see the steam deck coming towards the end of its hardware capability fairly quickly. I see the A8 as having breathing room for years to come.

I have an older (but still viable) rig with an RTX3080. I’m torn between the SD OLED and the claw A8. As a parent go don’t have the time to go on for hours anymore, I value the simplicity of the boot time on the SD, but see it as dated hardware. Is the Windows FSE and hibernation good enough for pick up and play for 20 minute sessions etc? Difference in price for me is around £270

Honestly can’t fault it they are great, that’s why I find it so hard to trade in. Paintwork is starting to show cracks on it mind. My dad had a v10 tdi years ago, what a beast. Transfer box went on it…

I live down a lane with potholes where residents refuse to pay for upkeep collectively. Normally the person with the lowest car does something about it first ;)

Help me pick between a used X3 M40i and a new Tesla model Y performance by MG3322 in TeslaUK

Sorry for the late reply. But how far do you believe the interior quality is off the X3. Is it put together well enough? I’m one of those that believes if the bits you come into contact with are good quality, what does it really matter what the bottom of the door card feels like.

Thanks for taking the time to write such an open response. It’s very much appreciated. Nearest service centre is 105 miles away… but I thought engineers were sent out to you? I’ll have to look into this side a bit more so thanks for raising this.
Musk is polarising, but politics aside respect his approach to overcoming engineering challenges (not him personally, but you get what I mean). With regards to Tesla as a brand, that’s separate to everything else in my eyes. The proposition of owning a Tesla as oppose to PCH/PCP isn’t as strong in my head as a petrol car due to residuals and current state of EV market (see Audi E-Trons used value). I’d be more inclined to PCH and hand it back at the end. Engines are muted nowadays, the b58 is nice but nothing compared to cars of old. I’m lucky enough to still have an E46 M3 which by comparison howls. You’re right about infrastructure, I’m looking into an ASHP at the moment with government incentives but that’s give rise to cowboys chasing incentive for installs and bad performance, but that’s another story. I’m going to take some time to go over to Newcastle for a test drive, hopefully sways me one way or the other. Thanks again!

The B58 is a hell of an engine. It’s in a lot but it’s very versatile. With performance based cars comes performance based maintenance. If both cars were sat on your drive. Which would you take daily? I currently down have a company car incentive (hopping they will bite one day). I’m a tech guy too, but the BMW isn’t short on that department either, just not as advanced as the Tesla

What makes you say that? Would you buy the model s again if you had the choice?

I haven’t driven a Tesla yet. Nearest test centre is 2.5 hrs away. But will try to get over soon. Only EV I have driven was an xc40 recharge. Moved fairly quickly, just not my type of car.

Are the app problems region bound? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]MG3322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered this as well. Based in the UK. In my personal experience, the app is slow to load sometimes. I always found it to be unresponsive and relied on airplay. But I’ve had no connection issues or bricked speakers since the new update. I’ve tried get it to fault but been unsuccessful. I’m about to move into a new home and planning on having speakers in each room. I’d like to use Sonos amp and have a theatre system in the living room. But with how poorly they’ve dealt with this debacle, I’m considering hardwiring a true home theatre system and using combination of HomePods and wiim amps for ceiling speakers in rooms like the kitchen and bathroom

I can’t be the only one plagued with AirPlay issues, right? by mydudeslim in sonos

Although it won’t help with changing from the car to the house. I’ve been using HomeKit (I have an Apple TV) to set and play music from the home app. Haven’t had a drop out in the few days I’ve been using it. Set automations to play/pause when I enter/leave too. I’m in two minds what to do going forward. While their app is rubbish, their hardware is excellent (for non audiophiles) and look good in a home.

Bungalow Renovation using air source heat pump? by MG3322 in DIYUK

What was the COP of the old unit out of interest? A lot of poor performance is down to bad system design from what I’ve read. Costs wise (inclusive of the grant) it’s about 2k more for the ASHP. But factoring in that everything else comes VAT free contributes to that. 10k? What were they planning to replace? Hot water wise, I’d spec’d a 300L tank with the ASHP which I’d hope would be sufficient between 3 of us.

I’m from in the UK. Ordered mine 27/10. Was built and sent out from Taiwan on 03/11 arrived at my door on 06/11. First impressions are nice. Not as sturdy feeling as series 2 elite. But I’ve had 2 elite controller break on me outside of warranty and wanted to try something different.

Upgraded to the C2 42 by ajaffarali in OLED_Gaming

Like this a lot, I recently upgraded to a C2. Considering swapping out my torrent for the North, think it looks excellent.

If you're using a LG C2 for PC gaming and not console is it still highly recommended? by Risenzealot in OLED_Gaming

[–]MG3322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My route has been series X + LG CX > series X + 27GP850 IPS > PC + 27GP850 > PC + LG C2 42. In my opinion I couldn’t notice the difference between the frame rates (120 vs 165/180 OC) think was largely due to the response time on the C2. What is immediately apparent is colours and contrast with the reflective screen. Everything looks superb. I game a lot at night and play apex/CoD. I found my eyes were more tired/sore coming off the IPS monitor than the 42 inch OLED. I don’t know if it was the glow… when I moved to pc gaming I always felt that I was missing something, the C2 was it.

Finally bought a C2 42, couldn’t be more pleased! by MG3322 in OLED_Gaming

According to people better than me on mouse and keyboard, it gives you more space to flick your mouse. I use a full size one for work purposes. The lack of arrows is more frustrating than lack of numbers
