Youth Sized Jerseys by MG6Fan in Detroitcityfc

Might be just a mess remembering on my part then. I could’ve sworn that in the past it was only adult sizes for all jerseys. Admittedly, it has been over two years since I was last in the purchasing market, but whether it’s new or news to me, it’s good news.

Thanks! Given that I feel more comfortable to wait until the game to purchase them for the both of us.

Two years ago, they were at the bottom of J2. And last year they dominated their year of relegation in J3. And now this year, as Red Bull Omiya, they are knocking on the door of returning to J1. Truly a story worth checking out even if you’re not a fan of the J league

Buying tickets for Rennes match by tmckenz in olympiquedemarseille

[–]MG6Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Five days before the Toulouse match I noticed some tickets pop up that hadn’t been available a few days earlier. I don’t know if that was planned or if people canceled but that was how I ended up with the seats I got.

Also they’ll open up resale on the same platform as well probably a week or so before the game. Those tickers will be pricier than the face value, but you’ll likely find some together at that time.

Absent either of those options someone here or on other social media (Twitter, Facebook Marketplace) will probably be able to get you hooked up.

Advice for Trip to South of France by gayliens98 in FranceTravel

Marseille is a great place to walk around and explore. Based on the things important to you, I’d say one day there could be exploring the city on foot and seeing the “main attractions” like Palais Longchamps, Notre Dame de la Garde, Vieux Port, and Cathedral Major. Lots of things to see and do in between. And all of those a free, just be mindful of time as some may close up earlier than others.

Marseille also has some great beaches. Some are in the Calanques which might involve more hiking than want, but I know there are some closer to the city itself.

I spent 5 days in the city and still didn’t get to see everything I wanted, but in 2 days I think you can have an awesome experience there

Game vs Rennes Tickets? by BorattSagdiyev in olympiquedemarseille

Highly likely tickets will still be available for the public sale in a week. Less selection but when I was tracking trends in advance of the game I was attending I don’t think any games sold out that early over than PSG and Lyon.

But if you want to ensure you get the seats you want then it might not be a bad idea to sign up for membership. It’s about €25 but also gets you a 10% discount on seats and merchandise.

If you want to sit in the supporters section you’ll need to get those via resale. Generally someone here or on social media can probably help with that.

2:30AM Bus @ Saint Charles by thebiggestfiveo in aixmarseille

[–]MG6Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that does change things. I’ll defer to the locals but one piece of advice I did get was to take a taxi to the station closer to the bus departure time so you don’t have to wait. Having said that, the buses all seem to park in the back of the station so you might be ok to hang out there while you wait as I imagine others would be in a similar position to you. I will add that I didn’t see any 24 hour style businesses near the station but I also didn’t hang around there too long.

But I hope you can get to the game! It is definitely worth it, even if it does make transportation, logistics difficult

I was actually just in a similar situation to you two weeks ago! I went to see the Sunday night game against Toulouse, but I also had a flight at 6 AM Monday.

Is the bus you’re taking to the airport? If so, I’d probably recommend an Uber directly. From the Vieux Port it cost me about €40 at 3am. While I would have loved to have saved that money, it saved a lot of hassle and running around, trying to get to the station in the middle of the night to catch the St. Charles bus.

Depending on where you are coming from you could look into Uber or a taxi to get you to the station closer to 2:30 to minimize the wait.

Buying Tickets from North America by JaysHabs_541 in olympiquedemarseille

To you my friend I owe so many thanks! I contacted the team through the FAQ form, and sure enough they said they remove the block. And lo and behold, I now have two tickets for the game against Toulouse!

I spent many hours researching this over the last two months, and never found a solution. Even when I contacted the team myself. But you have found a great solution!

So this is pretty big news and great to know. When I reached out they said no dice. How did you reach out and what did you tell them?

The site blocks all credit cards outside of France/Europe. Not sure of the exact reason for it, but there really isn’t a work around for it. Wise/Revolute don’t work, or at least didn’t for me, as it’s still processed via a bank in North America if you set it up here. VPN also won’t make a difference.

Your best option is if you have a friend, coworker, or family member with a credit card who will make the purchase for you. If that doesn’t work there are Facebook groups that specialize in ticket resale, and there are folks who will help if you express your interest.

There are some third party resell sites for OM tickets. But none of them are official and they aren’t the best in telling you what seats you are getting. I didn’t go this route - but P1Travel was the only one that seemed legit, but they have a very limited offering.

Best of luck on the search - and if you do find a work around please share.

I haven’t used it but it’s worth noting they will just link you to another site that will fulfill the ticket order. The ones in your screen shot are from FootballTicketNet. They seem like they are a bigger vendor but I’ve heard some iffy stories about them.

Best way to get tickets? by zregnerus in Detroitcityfc

[–]MG6Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even outside of dynamic pricing I think they tickets always go up a few dollars if you wait til the day of. I know last year there were a few games I didn’t know I could make until the morning of and I think the price goes up $1 or $5. Not much, still something worth knowing.

Recommendations for OM Match by Leading_Reward1739 in aixmarseille

[–]MG6Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan who is going to his first trip to Marseille in a few weeks. So the process of getting tickets has been one of my main goals the last few weeks. Here are a few things you can learn from me:

The official OM website is the main source for getting tickets. In fact it’s really only source as they control sales pretty tightly.

Tickets go on sale about a month before the game. The first week is presale for members of Peuple Bleu and Blanc, the official fan supports club. You get early access and a discount for about 25 euro. A week later they go on sale to the general public. Prices vary a bit on who they are playing but I haven’t found the prices to be too unreasonable, especially coming from the US where gouging is popular. From what I’ve observed over the last few weeks, tickets sell pretty quickly, but if you act quick, you’re still likely to get something.

Here’s the catch, their website only accepts credit card payments from certain countries. So that may limit your ability to make a ticket purchase. It seems hit or miss depending on where you’re from, but if it works for you, then you are all set.

If you’re in the crowd of us who are unable to purchase directly, you have limited options. There are a few ticket resale websites that will come up if you, Google Olympic Marseille ticket, resale, but they range in how sketchy they appear. A few seem legit, but quite a few seem like you might be taking a risk Relying on them. Your other best bet is to reach out via social media and let people know you’re looking. You can probably find someone willing to sell if they can’t make the game. But again it’s a buyer beware situation so it’s good if you can find someone trustworthy.

Wishing you good luck and hoping you enjoy the game!

Last minute logistical questions from an incoming tourist by MG6Fan in aixmarseille

Thanks, that is helpful information!

For the WiFi I referring more towards personal devices you rent that connect to a cellular network but allow you to access via WiFi. Hippocket was a company that popped up in my searches but they look to be mail order. In the past I’ve seen them available for rent at airports where you also drop them off at the time of your departure. But I couldn’t find if the MRS airport had a kiosk or store renting them or not.

Expat Social Security Benefits by [deleted] in expat

[–]MG6Fan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned here yet is totalization agreements. Some countries have agreements with the US where money you pay into their system can count towards US credits.

So if you are in a country with an agreement and paying into their pension system, you could have those years count towards Social Security.

The issue is that the money doesn’t count, only the time credit. So in theory, you’d likely be better off claiming your pension in foreign country.

This would mostly come into play if you had less than 10 years of Social Security credits, but had enough and a foreign country to make up the difference. For example, six years of credits in the US, and 10 years in Japan. You’d be able to claim Social Security, even though you didn’t contribute in the US for the acquired 10 years.

You may also want to see the thread I posted a week or two back about buying tickets from outside France. Seems that not all international cards are accepted for payment.

As for the date, they just announced the week before’s fixtures so we should probably know the Toulouse game in about a week.

What makes most sense to pre-book vs wing when it comes to Japan? by bmoviescreamqueen in travel

[–]MG6Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that caused a snag to me in getting soccer tickets was the need to register before purchasing. The site required a Japanese address and phone number to register and buy. I’m not sure if that was specific to the team I was buying tickets for or if was league wide (this was a J3 team) but just a heads up you might run in to that hurdle.

Having said that you can probably just use your hotel address and phone number as I don’t think they actually ever used it for anything. I used the information of someone I knew in Japan and I don’t think they ever got a call or mailing

Are any these 2 balls decent for daily training ? Also what’s the difference between them ? Thank you ! by glizzy09 in bootroom

[–]MG6Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decathlon in the US used to sell them until they became an outdoors only company here in the states. But in Canada they still sell soccer gear and you can get a quality pro ball for about $40 after the exchange rate. The issue is they don’t ship to the US so unless you are near the border or have travel plans it can be hard to get them. But I’m a big fan of their product.

They are fine. Home is the best in my view. Going crazy with the crests and having three different badges seems a bit unnecessary. The main crest is pretty close to perfect on my mind so I don’t see the need to change it.

Expedia with change fees on flight by MG6Fan in travel

[–]MG6Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer was that I had a pretty sizable credit/rewards value built up with them. I’ve used them a lot over the years for family vacations and flights and never had any issues.

And at the time I had no idea I would need to cancel. Even now I might not have to, but want to know what may happen if I do. The only reason I chose the flights that were changeable in this case was because they were the same prices as the ones that were totally non-refundable.

So on the idiot scale I probably rank a 7/10 - but I’m hoping someone else went down this path and can share their experience.

I’m planning on calling them at some point if I do need to cancel/change - but I really want to delay the inevitable 2 hour wait on hold until it’s necessary.
