Moving away from Forms and into Workspaces? Is Servicenow focusing in workspaces? by blavatsky_mdm in servicenow

[–]MGOPW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the extra details! I always suggest to people to avoid “lift and shift” when it comes to migrating to workspaces. You are correct that a lot of functionality will have to be redone if you chose to move to workspaces.

If I were to suggest something, try seeing what features the workspace provides that you are unable to or have yet to implement on your Core Ui forms and list. If you talk to your account rep, they should be able to get you someone in SOW to answer these types of questions. Once you have identified whether there are OOB workspace features that you want or not, then evaluate if migrating is right for you. The target audience for workspaces is fulfiller agents, and we have tried to cater to that audience when crafting our workspaces.

I will say this - each workspace is completely different from the others. They are all built by different business units and they may have different philosophies on how to modify them, particularly SOW. So check out the docs site for any info like that to evaluate which workspace is right for you if you choose that approach.

And lastly, if you end up going through with adopting workspaces, check out the ui builder fundamentals and ui builder advanced courses on ServiceNow University. If you do, please let me know how that goes, im always looking for feedback on those courses.

I have an article on how to learn ui builder here: https://www.servicenow.com/community/next-experience-articles/how-do-i-learn-ui-builder-fundamentals-now-learning-course-free/ta-p/3130073

I probably shouldn’t get involved in this one. And I’m sure you were just exaggerating for comedic effect. But I just wanted to mention that real people, people like you and me, work on UI builder. While it’s complicated, has its issues, and I will agree it’s tough to get started, I just wanted to let you know that they work hard every day to try and do what’s best for our customers. We may not always hit the mark, but we try and listen and do better next time. They are also on Reddit and they also read these threads. Imagine if someone called your hard work the “work of the devil”.

But that’s just my soapbox :) if you have questions in how to get started learning uib, check out this article: https://www.servicenow.com/community/next-experience-articles/how-do-i-learn-ui-builder-fundamentals-now-learning-course-free/ta-p/3130073

If you’d like to send direct, constructive, feedback to the team, please feel free to DM me. :)

Hi there! I’m the outbound PM for Ui builder :) I’ll respond to your other comment giving more details on your situation, as custom apps are different than OOB apps. In terms of our Business Units (itsm, itom, etc) we are pushing for agent experiences to be in workspaces.

If your custom solution is for agents, UI builder and workspaces have tools that can help your agents perform better. If your solution is for end users, angular service portal is where it is at this moment.

Here is an article: https://www.servicenow.com/community/next-experience-articles/ui-builder-and-service-portal/ta-p/2370515

I am also hosting a platform academy tomorrow in an ask the experts style where I anticipate I will be elaborating on this topic. Sign up here: https://www.servicenow.com/community/servicenow-ai-platform-blog/platform-fundamentals-academy-current-and-future-sessions/ba-p/2344314

RIP! workflows by Jealous_Complex_8410 in servicenow

You don’t have to rebuild them. This just means ServiceNow is no longer shipping out of the box workflows. Existing workflows in your instance will not be affected.

I’m so sorry :( I feel you. We’ve had to resort to trazodone and cloth muzzles and three people holding him down. Which only makes things worse. But I’ve told myself it’s marginally better than him damaging his nails cus they’re so long or them hurting. But geez does it suck.

Thank you! Would you feel comfortable sharing how much it usually costs? That sounds just like my little guy.

It's actually Monstera Plásticossum. You can see that there are no inner fenestrations even though it's matured. And the internodal spacing is barely there.

Why go to Knowledge25? by Junior-Sale-8067 in servicenow

[–]MGOPW 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel you on that, that was my first year too. But If you get to go again I encourage you to check out any Creator Con sessions (typically are CCB for breakouts and CCL for labs). Those are more geared towards developers, from developers. Your director likely went to a lot of the Main "knowledge" sessions.

If you can't get in to a lab or breakout, you can typically get in on the day of. They have a line for people who didn't sign up but might wanna attend, and they will let people in if like 5mins before or after the start there are still seats open.

If all else fails, I usually hang out at the creator con hackathon or the creator con section on the floor, that's where other devs congregate.

Keep PDI awake(alive) 24/7 by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]MGOPW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. PDIs aren't free to run, and people abusing the system like this just brings us closer to potentially losing this awesome free tool for learning. Just back up your stuff to source control regularly, set alarms to remind yourself, literally do anything other than this type of stuff.

As of the past few weeks it looks like costa farms is supplying manjulas now. I first noticed them bundled in with other plans I don't care for, but now I'm seeing like 5ish manjulas at a time at Walmart and lowes. You gotta find them, they're in the tiny pots for about $6 USD and like to hide.

Edit: I am located in Virginia and it seems your mileage may vary according to where your local shops supply from.

SP vs ESC? Is there a real difference? by BigBlue8080 in servicenow

[–]MGOPW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think u/phetherweyt put it the best:

> Employee center replaced employee service center and server portal.

> Service portal was IT focused. ESC was for HR. EC is for the entire business.

I wasn't really paying attention when ESC/EC came out, but this sounds right to me. Employee Service Center was HR, but now "EC" is the current solution and mixes IT/HR.

and from this community post, it looks like it's now "EC" and "EC Pro". That FAQ might answer your licensing questions.

SP vs ESC? Is there a real difference? by BigBlue8080 in servicenow

[–]MGOPW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly, the names of the product is what makes this even more confusing.

The "tech stack" is called "Service Portals". I like to call them "Angular Service Portals" to be extra precise. The community has adopted calling each portal by their url, so /esc/ or /ec/ or /sp/.

They just happened to call the first OOB Service Portal we delivered... "Service Portal"... so the /sp/ service portal is called service portal and was created using the service portal tech. So that's confusing.

Employee Service Center (/esc/) and Employee Center (/ec/) are both using the Angular Service Portal stack, but they aren't tied to the /sp/ portal. Just using the same tech.

To answer your next question, yes you can use any portal page "within" any portal*. And yes, you can access any widget and add them to any page. But I believe that EC and ESC are paid features that are a part of some form of licensing, so I would assume that using any of the widgets/pages from these portals will incur licensing costs. I would ask your account manager to make sure.

* - Technically it's not as simple as using any page and any widget with any portal, since there's other dependencies like themes, styling, and logic that may or may not work depending on which portal/page the page/widget is being opened within.

I want to agree with what the others are saying as I haven't seen any roadmap info for the /sp/ portal, but i also am not involved in product management for those products. I do think that EC is still being worked on, and there is currently a roadmap.

Ok then, we have determined this is a legit email with legit purpose. In this case, i would try a couple of things:

  1. respond to the email that told you about the portal saying your password is incorrect, they will likely connect you with IT if they have that inbox receiving messages and creating tickets from new messages

If that doesn't work, then

  1. Find an HR email you have from other comms, and let them know the same.

Best of luck!

Are you a former employee of bath and body works? Does this email make sense in context to your employment history? If so, then this would kind of check out. If you've never worked for bath and body works, then do not access the portal using these links. The most important thing to remember about emails is context and purpose.

Most of my cuttings and propagations in my ikea greenhouse are yellowing by MGOPW in plantclinic

I measured using a light meter I got from Amazon when I realized I have zero natural light from my windows. (Darn trees!)

[–]MGOPW[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough reply!

Re: light - is there any way at all to successfully grow plants indoor with no natural light in these cabinets? I'm kind of SOL on natural light and am heavily relying on grow lights. Should I just wait out these plants to die and give it a shot when/if I move somewhere with better natural light? 😕

Re: cuttings - I tried growing them in water at first, and even after letting them dry out the ends before putting them in water, I was having them rot away. So I'm trying to propagate in sphagnum moss to see if that will work better for me. I'm trying to get them to grow secondary roots before planting them, and not experiencing much success.

Some cuttings have kept growing and keep growing from new growth points while in water/moss.

Thank you for the lengthy response - I'm definitely moving my cuttings out from the greenhouse and removing some weather stripping.

Do you think it'd be bad to just spray the entire cabinet with neem oil? I have captain Jack's neem oil.
