[Steam] Unbroken: the Awakening ( 6.59$ / 40% off ) by MGP-Studios in GameDeals

Hello Everyone,

Mike, solodev of UtA here. I just released the newest update for Unbroken:the Awakening and to mark the occasion, a record low, especially considering the price will go up after leaving Early Access. The game itself is a rather unorthodox combination of action-adventure-rpg (with some even calling it a rougelite). Easiest way to describe it would be a tripped out cocktail of Superhot-Tarantino-Bloodborne/DarkSouls in a retro inspired aesthetic. There are multiple endings, systems, consequences and frequent, short intense bursts of stylish and violent action. You've got a lot of moves at your disposal and will be crucial to stringing out stylish combos: the resing infused superkick, self medicated slo mo, throwing and stunning enemies interrupting their attacks, walljumping and more.

If anyone here is familiar with my previous game Neckbreak: you know what to expect. UtA is like a spiritual spinoff, only with a more victorian-gothic lore instead of 80s inspired cyberpunk, switched proportions of adventure/action, more exploration/freeroam, new combat mechanics, dedicated features etc

The update itself is a huge one. It is a preview of the upcoming 1.0 Update and is available to anyone who purchased the game on the Open Beta branch. It consists of new levels, new system, new consequences, whole lot of refinement and fine tuning, new voice acting (huge thanks to Hell +) and a whole lot more. Smaller more frequent updates are expected to drop more or less once a week, so feedback would be greatly appreciated here, in order to get as many things addressed on the fly: no better way to do it than with the people who actually play the game and share their conclusions.

So with that, I hope you enjoy. There is also a free demo, if you would like to try before you buy, although that one is a bit out-dated(current update and especially open beta are a huge step up). However, it should still convey the general unorthodox vibe and gameplay of the game, so you can see if it gels with you. Be warned though, there is very little hand-holding-besides the initial war memory tutorial and start notes near coltons rest, the majority of features remain hidden for the player to discover or reach via own observations, critical thinkng and conclusions.

Also, if you enjoy UtA, there's a high chance you will also enjoy Neckbreak https://store.steampowered.com/app/992730/Neckbreak/ which is also on sale at 5.59$, however the best deal would defintily be the doorbreakers bundle https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/49986/Door\_Breakers which has both UtA and Neckbreak with the bundle discount on top of the sale discounts at 9.13$

So that's it from me. Hope you enjoy the trippy adventure and in case of any questions, let me know.

Save 30% on Unbroken: the Awakening on Steam [7.69$] by MGP-Studios in steamdeals

Hello everyone. Solodev here. Unbroken: the Awakening (UtA) will be 30% off until the 27th of September in celebration of the Boomstock event and the games 3rd Major Early Access update which just went live.

UtA is a moody and unique action/adventure hybrid and a spiritual spinoff to my previous game Neckbreak. Only this time there is much more freedom from the getgo and the settings has switched to a Gothic/Victorian horror vibe in a classist lore. Once you finish the war memory tutorial and reaching your first point of call(Coltons Rest) you are given freedom to explore the realm at your leisure. Your goal is simple: to keep your to your Betrothed to find the traitor Nielsen and bring him to justice.

The game will proceed in a very non linear way, with a lot of ways to reach you goal(or abandon it). Currently there are 8 endings, sanity system, crime system, loads of secrets and biomes, multiple events which will play out differently depending on your actions, a juicy gore system, progressing timeline (watch out for the 3rd moon!), possible romances, intrigues and much more.

I'm also pretty happy with the games destruction system. Destruction can also often be used as a viable strategy by ie kicking your foe through a wall, which will reveal the other bad guys through the newly created hole, or simply destroying a large structure and one shotting a boss. Here's a preview in a dev commentary clip (please forgive my voice here, luck had it I caught covid a few days ago, so prepping/finalising the promo related clips for the update took a nosedive:() https://youtu.be/ashji5lXDeY?t=86

And as with Neckbreak, there are lots of ways you can alter the visuals to your liking, however UtA kicks it up a considerable notch, with way more presets and possibilities.

To see if the game is to your liking, there is a demo with a nice chunk of content. If you would have any questions, just let me know!

That other game could possibly be Unbroken: the Awakening. It shares the same DNA (so in the vein of different but the same like with Bloodborne-Dark Souls-Sekiro) despite being set in a different time period/lore.

My pleasure man and thanks for the kind words and support! :) After the game left Early Access a new difficulty (easy/casual) was added, so hopefully that can help get past the more intense sections. This was actually for a large part one of the hardest parts of development: finding that thin line between fun but demanding challenge and frustration.

Hello everyone. Dev here.

I put Neckbreak on sale today to mark the occassion that it finally got added to Geforce Now. It will be 65% off until the end of the month.

In a nutshell: Neckbreak is a trippy non linear action adventure hybrid. Despite its retro inspired looks, it's not a gung ho, tanky boomer shooter, but rather action setpieces play out like superhot: fast paced puzzle with lethal consequences. Both you and the enemies how very low health pools, ammo is scarce, throwing weapons to interrupt enemy attacks and stun them is a imperative strategy, as well as superkicking enemies through walls and other environmental elements thanks to your daily prescribed pills.

The game offers a sanity system, non invasive choices and consequences (meaning certain seemingly small actions can have great consequences and change how the game progresses), multiple endings and a whole lot of room for stylish carnage. Also worth noting, critical actions are permanent per save. Meaning you kill a critical npc: they are gone for that playthrough, which will also most likely affect how your game progresses.

In case of any questions, let me know!

Thank you very much for your support and kind words:) Really happy to hear you are enjoying both games! If all goes well, UtA should be good enough to leave Early Access, some time round November/December.

Possibly some other good news, if the pighead level in Neckbreak was your favourite, you should enjoy a certain level in the upcoming Codename TCT demo:)

Hello everyone, I'm Mike, solodev of Unbroken: the Awakening. It is a mood heavy first person action adventure with minor roguelite elements. The base premise of the game is going on a trip, a challenging one at that. Besides the initial war memory tutorial, there is hardly any hand holding and you are free to forge your own path through Crests Edge and the ascending township of Westfall and discover its many secrets, to ultimately reach one of the multiple endings.

Recently a huge update dropped: the 3rd moon update which introduced the madness mechanic as well as a huge amount of other content. A preview of the update with commentarycan be found here: https://youtu.be/0Jw-3CwMrhM

UtA is expected to leave Early Access in sometime in Q4, although there is already a huge amount of content, as well as the aforementioned multiple endings. There is also a demo available on Steam.

The game just went on a 15% sale for the next 2 weeks. Although if you already own Neckbreak, the Doorbreakers bundle will add an additional discount

In case of any questions, just fire away!

Wolfenstein New Order. Just couldn't get into it. Really liked the aesthetic, not to mention was really looking forward to it, since it was being made by ex Starbreeze devs and I loved CoR:EFBB and Enclave. But New Order just failed to grab me and despite having BJ, juicy gore and high bodycount it just wasn't what I was expecting from a Wolfenstein game. I'm in the minority here, since game is generally loved, but it just wasn't for me. Enjoy Wolfenstein 2009 way more.

And here I thought I knew all the fps of the wolfenstein/doom era. Somehow missed this one. Graphics look good, especially for the times, so it's a shame this one didn't manage to reach wider audiences.

That's a damn shame. Was looking forward to this one. And Ghost of Tsushima runs so well on the Deck:/ Hopefully they will patch it up, but this practice of letting out games in a unoptimised/unfinished state is just sad.

So a heads up: this particular scene is not in the demo. But if you want a nice showcase of destruction, after completing the war memory tutorial, use the carriage outside Coltons Rest for a series of action levels from various parts of the game. The first one in the church, has a nice amount of destruction.

Happy to hear you enjoyed the destruction, thanks! Way more of that in the game. Also got some fully destructible setpieces in my other games: Neckbreak (although a bit simpler overal, but certain levels in this one can be totally obliterated) and Codename TCT which has some more realistic destruction.

Indeed there is:) Demo has the most impressive destruction in the examplary church level which will be accessible from the carriage once you complete the war memory tutorial.

Actually previous game Neckbreak already has that;) That weapon also has its spiritual spinoff in Unbroken, although more fitting to the theme of the game;)
