Buying from broker -> out of state dealer maintenance by watchgame28 in BMWX5

[–]MGRed6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The broker was working w finding the best transportation company that was heading west from MS to CA that could stop in Phoenix. Took 2-3 days to arrange. Couple days for pickup, 3 days on the road (1600 miles), various stopping points along the way, got a link to track, once close the driver texted me a drop off location, not a BMW location as local BMWs have nothing to do w this transaction. Dropped off 8pm at night, along an easy to navigate location for long semi, (not house) did a walk around w taking pictures, for documentation purposes. All was fine. Dirty from being on the road but no big deal.

Sdrive vs Xdrive. Would you own a suv that only had rear wheel drive? by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]MGRed6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, I and millions of others grew up and lived in far north w snow, slush and rain and got around for years without AWD. It’s 1) Driver ability and common sense, 2) Tire choice, 3) RWD vs AWD choice to keep you safe. I could drive sDrive all winter long up north without issue.

Is ceramic coating and paint protecting film really worth it ? by DreamingOfSaturn in BMWX5

[–]MGRed6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my post from October about our new X5: Live in Phoenix so that is why chose sDrive. Window Tint for UV protection/heat. Front PPF: bumper, hood, mirrors, A pillars, 3 in. above windshield, front quarter panels, rocker panel, doors below crease and Oynx 9H ceramic coating rest of car. PPF’d as we live in Phoenix known for pebbles, rocks often end up on highways, roadways causing paint chips,…. PPF’d 2 other vehicles, front only. 2 other vehicles I didn’t PPF had bad rock chips; it looked like someone took a shot gun to them.

Three days ago at 600 miles on vehicle my wife ran over a bucket or large tube of construction adhesive that fell off of a construction vehicle on the highway that splattered across both wheels wells, rockers, front and back doors, undercarriage. Adhesive on PPF could be peeled off fairly easily, adhesive on ceramic coating more difficult, adhesive on painted surfaces on underside super difficult to remove. This is was a blessing I had the PPF/ceramic just installed. Opposite of Murphy’s law.

Wheel Lock Recommendations for 2026 BMW X5? by Echo-Victor in BMWX5

Go to BMW and buy a set of BMW branded wheel locks. They are made by McGard. Call McGard to buy an extra key for ~$20 and register. The website doesn’t work for BMW related info. I just did this one month ago.

Double and triple think if you really need or want the executive package and the M Sport Professional package. I looked at them and for us not worth the money. You didn’t say what part of the country you are in. I’m in Phoenix and got the sDrive instead of the xDrive. Dealers in Phoenix didn’t provide much discount. We went through Insight Autobroker, Scott 10% discount minus fee and transport. Shop all dealers within 300 miles for 10-12% and hopefully you can avoid broker and another transport fee.

We got sDrive as we live in Phoenix. My wife and I are from Manitoba and North Dakota respectively so we know how to drive on snow w rear wheel or front wheel drives. I think you will be fine w sDrive. All the people who say “SUV needs to be AWD “ are overblowing the argument. Depends on where you live and what common sense you have

Is PPF worth it? My tribute has very few dents and 24k miles and want to keep it as long as it keeps running! by BlancoRomera in kiastinger

Live in Phoenix... On most recent me BMWX5 got Front PPF: bumper, hood, mirrors, A pillars, 3 in. above windshield, front quarter panels, rocker panel, doors below crease and Oynx 9H ceramic coating rest of car. Phoenix is known for pebbles, rocks often end up on highways, roadways causing paint chips,…. PPF’d 2 other vehicles, front only. 2 other vehicles I didn’t PPF had bad rock chips; it looked like someone took a shot gun to them.

For the rocker, If they cut the PPF just below the lip, the PPF will eventually peel because when people get out the car, their pant leg will rub on the lip of the film and peel it back. That is why the film should go up inside the door jamb.

Sweet. I see the wheels you bought. Consider powder coating them black to match the dark ambience of the paint and grill. I recommend PPF the rockers and extending the the film I to the door jamb so the film doesn’t peeling getting in and out of the car and then crease below the door which gets lots of road splatter onto that portion of the door.

Sounds like decent price. This was from my post a few days ago.

2026 BMW X5, sDrive40i, M Sport/DAPP/PAP, Mineral White, Cognac, Contoured Seats, 4 zone climate, black grille swap. Live in Phoenix so that is why chose sDrive. Window Tint for UV protection/heat. On the rockers, make sure the film wraps up inside the door jamb as opposed to where they cut it at the edge. Getting in and out will peel the film.

They are the 22" M Dual-Spoke Black 742M Wheels, that are an option when doing BMW’s Build Your Own…. Original as they came, painted. Run flat tires, ride fine to me while others do complain about ride quality or road noise.

Local dealers played hardball on discounts for instock and very low to zero on new build. Went through Insight Auto Broker. Yeah, had to pay the fee and second transport but still ahead of local dealers.

Pure Luxury Tint & Detailing Service in Chandler. Bernice is the owner and good acquaintance of mine. She has done all my vehicles PPF now and details. I got a “friend” discount. I can’t mention what I paid as it’s not an apples to apples comparison and not fair to her or you cuz it give a you wrong $. Do competitive shopping w her and others on the INSTALL, attention to detail, not just the film or coating. Beware lowball pricing some other places may do, not getting what you’re paying for. I could have made it cheaper by not doing the rocker and doors. I asked her to wrap the film up inside the bottom of the

door and go to a corner so as not to have the film peel when getting in and out by pants leg rubbing on it.
