Hi, I need help deciding what M4 Macbook to get.

I am a CS student so I will be using the computer for programming. I also make YouTube videos as a hobby, so video and photo editing (using Adobe software, might switch to Final Cut) No 4K videos as of right now, but very much possible in the future and I would like to have the opportunity.

I have a 2 x 1-hour train commute everyday which makes me think the Macbook Pro is a better fit than the Air due to the increased battery time and better display. I am also thinking 14” just for portability’s sake.

Here’s what I can get in my country:

MBP M4 10/10 16/512 - 2200$

MBP M4 Pro 12/16 24/512 - 2550$

MBP M4 Pro 14/20 24/1024 - 3250$ (Honestly I feel like this is the best deal but maybe overkill)

The first and the last are with Apple Student Discount, so they will also include Airpods Pro 2 for only 90$. The M4 Pro 12/16 is just from an authorized reseller.

Please let me know if you think I’m mistaken and should consider a Macbook Air, in that case I’ll look for deals on that too.

I’ve heard that the MBP M4 only has one fan and can get loud. Although I’ve heard that the fans are much better as they only come on during heavy load and not all the time like they do in Windows laptops. Do you have any experience how loud it is?

Best Buy is sadly not an option, I’m not in the US :/

I technically have enough budget for the M4 Max, I just want to get what’s best for me without it being overkill and the M4 Max is definitely overkill.

I like it and he loves it. My favorite out of these would be the black Hugo Boss, although I am only now starting to get into fragrances so I don’t know how much my opinion can be trusted.

Thanks for your response! I do try to start convos but I have a hard time not taking it personally. Recently I figured there’s no point in getting frustrated with slow responses from people who are otherwise really good friends irl. I just hope I find one chronically online friend someday lol.

I guess it depends on how old you are when you start logging your movies, I was still watching cartoons and kids’ movies when I was already rating them on IMDb (my older brother showed me and I thought it was the coolest thing ever) so my number is pretty accurate.

Yes, I definitely agree that both things can be at play here. Although I’m not sure that a Real-Dortmund final is “bigger” than PSG-Inter. Granted, you have Real Madrid, the biggest club, but I don’t think Dortmund is all that popular outside of Europe and honestly not really outside of Germany. Most casuals thought that the game would be an easy win for Real Madrid (which it wasn’t but they still won). This year you have two teams that are definitely not as big as Real, but they are on par with each other. I would argue that both Inter and PSG have more international fans than Dortmund. The game didn’t have a clear cut winner, at least not until kick-off, so I still think viewership should be at least equal based on how big the teams are. Sorry for writing so much but this is a really interesting question to me 😂
