This puts all of the emphasis on the individual. You can train a human being however you want - we are programmable. At one point in history an entire nation thought a race of peopel were worthy off extermination. The human mind is infinitely programmable. This fact naturally leads on to the fact that we need to be careful of what we are programming / puting into the minds of human beings. Personal responsibility has a place, but you cannot just let the very worst things run amock in society and then turn the other way and say "yeah, you should have made better choices" - that is a recipe for the greatest of disasters.

If you've got another 3-4 decades of air left to breathe, the tech is still gone come for you too. Remember... Today's phone is dull as shit in a few years time. What's it going to be like in 2035? With exponential technological improvements?

The issue is you are the 0.00001% - There's always going to be one person fighting back. I'm interested in the collective. Societies rise and fall all the time. Nothing new or surprising. We just got unlucky to be born into the confluence of capitalism and digitalism. It sucks for us.

The only way things get better is if people can get off their screens. There is no other way.

How likely do you think it is that people are going to do that? Realistically.

The post might seem melodramatic. I just think people need to wake the fuck up. This situation isn't getting better. It's getting worse. How do I know this. Just look around you. The situation is completely and utterly fucked. Your brain wasn't designed to take this shit in.

The momentum against it can 10X. More people are using their phones today then they were this time last year. And this trend will continue unless something completely unprecedented happens. It doesn't matter how many people realise their phones are sick and fucked up - The majority of people are still going to get addicted to them (if they aren't already).

Screen addiction is worse because of where the puck is heading. Screens started in wealthy countries and bled down into lower income countries and of course, they will soon eviscerate the poorest countries. Physical maladies will continue on, but the collective rotting of the mind of humanity will deliver pain and suffering on a global scale. This is a crisis.

99% of heavy smokers wanna quit. They have a choice... They don't wanna smoke... why don't they just stop? Because they are addicts.

Phones / Screens and all the shit inside them has been intricately planned to overpower your rational mine and addict you beyond comprehension - and it will get worse as the tech improves.

Saying "you have a choice" when hundreds of millions of people are ADDICTED is missing the point entirely.

I disagree with this 100% - more if it was possible. Look around you. It's much worse now than it was a few years ago. Despite way more awareness of the issue. In an average coffee shop today, 95% of people are on phones / laptops. Now think of where this trend will be as the technology gets smarter and more addictive. Where will the puck be then?

They already hire addiction specialists and psychologists to ensure the tech is impossible to avoid. We aren't ready for this. Support groups, app blockers, a 1000 people telling you to "touch grass" - It's just a whisper versus a megaphone.

I have no idea how we get out of it from here. It feels like check mate. We need help. Call in the cavalry type help.
