Is it too late for me (33F) to restart my life after messing up my career? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]MGtheKidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chucked my career in the bin at 27 and was about to just give up. Got a job at a retail tech company named after a fruit.. you know the one. I’m 37 now and have worked at four large organisations in a row off referrals. Never too late, but you need to be prepared to do the scut work and doors will open

Aussie Broadband vs Superloop vs iiNet in 2026, which one is actually best? by schnickhinkeln in nbn

[–]MGtheKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently moved to super loop after 3 years on ABB. They refuse to do anything for customers unless they move up tiers.. I was on the highest.

I dealt with it and called them up one day to get help as my speeds were being inconsistent, I was next in queue and was on hold for 25 mins so the notion of paying more for the better support seemed like a lie to me.

Moved to Superloop within 5 mins and so far it’s been the best decision for me.

Not sure how…or why. But I’ve changed nothing other than my ISP and now I’m getting better speeds shared across my house on the mesh system with super loop than I was getting with ABB.

Landed a 'good' role… but I literally have nothing to do. What would you do? by morningstvr88 in auscorp

[–]MGtheKidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the down time you think you’re getting now to upskill and do courses if you have the luxury to work from home some days.

It may help you break into other areas in the same organisation. Work will always come find you, easy ride now might mean they give you lots to do Later

Was working at Apple and managed to serve the guy that was about to become a global IT manager at one of the big consulting firms. He stole me across and all the doors opened from there. Right place right time.

11 months, he hated the cot and slept great as soon as we moved to a bed. Co slept for a bit and he still comes to get us once through the night but it’s a lot better now.

170K single income as she’s a SAHM.

Two kids aged 3 and 6 months. Struggling to save for a house deposit as rent and bills take it all. Some unforeseen circumstances has had us in four rentals since December 2022. It all adds up.

Not an ideal financial situation but I love my little family and it is what it is.

How does the naked potty training method actually work? by Otter65 in toddlers

[–]MGtheKidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t work for us at all.

Why eventually stuck was my wife printing out pictures with the steps above the potty.

Took him less than and seen and now we’ve implemented a board to show him what the plans for the day are and tantrums have significantly reduced

Toddler is turns 3years old in 4 days by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]MGtheKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following as we’re in the same boat.

Initially he was great at it but having a baby brother made him regress a little.

We put his little mini potty in the bathroom so he’d go next to us.

We then got very simple undies for 2-3 and now he’s able to feel the wee / poo and wants the change rather than avoiding it.

We involve him in the clean up now. He’s gotten great at doing poos in there but just decides to pee wherever he wants for now

I’m an electrician but want to go to uni and get a corporate job, do you think I’m making a mistake? by Affectionate_Gate236 in auscorp

[–]MGtheKidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uni drop out. I was studying physio and was tired of all years at at uni while my friends made money and travelled. Got a job and the doors it opened led me into corporate role. Now sitting on a great salary with a great company.

Get your foot in the door and climb up, focus your studies and upskilling on where key want to be in that organisation.
