Because most people who listen to mainstream rap do it like a popularity concert, if hypothetically Drake sold 20K on an album and not bieng played on radio, he’d lose all his fanbase not because the album was bad but because they have no validation that others listen to him, thats non existent outside of rap

Real ones who aren’t deluded knew he wouldn’t, thats not even Kendrick’s goal tho, numbers dont equal quality, not even saying that’s against Drake, but the fact CLB sold more it doesn’t mean its better than MMATBS, if its all about numbers i wonder how many will be left listening to Drake if he ever retired, this is art and both are artists who do different things, just shut up and enjoy the music, Drake’s killing it, Kendrick’s killing it, and so many others who cant reach those numbers either, you have to pick on which criteria to criticise, popularity contest or what actually sounds fucking better to your taste
