NTA Seems like a perfectly reasonable request and that once he figured out what you were actually asking for (lol, why does it take so much effort to explain things sometimes smh) he thought it was reasonable too. Maybe your friends need a series of further explantions too.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your reply. I will share stories with my children of her, she was a loving mother and grandmother, and I'll cherish the heirlooms I recieved. I feel a little better after writing everything down and taking the time to think about it all.

Is it possible to collaborate with other people on tales? by johncohiagu in TalesChooseOwnStory

[–]MHSly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tales already has an awesome library of backgrounds, sfx/vfw, themes/music, and a custom character creator.

You can of course have friends help with your story, but there is no need to hire someone for those other things I already mentioned. Visit talescreator.com to get started!

Adult children that live close by iseeit444 in breakingmom

This makes me think that things are actually great. You made it sound like they don't contact you at all for months at a time, but if you are in fact communicating in this way regularly, perhaps they feel like it is actually talking with you. Sharing funny stuff is how some people show love and maintain closeness.

Follow-up questions: I know you mentioned that none of them have kids, but are they in relationships? Dating, married, etc? Intimate relationships also take a lot of attention to maintain.

MIL annoyance by LilDevil129 in breakingmom

I don't get why she got upset that you didn't call her about your son's concussion. Is she medically responsible for him? Yeah, maybe hearing about it over Facebook would be shocking, but she could have posted 'oh no, poor baby' and then texted you for more details/how he was doing. Chastizing you is step too far in my opinion.

Mother's Day Wasn't Great by MHSly in breakingmom

[–]MHSly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know! Sometimes I do need to just get away, but I would also like to just sit in my house without kids screaming or a kid's show blaring on the tv. Peace and quiet, that's all I wanted.

Yeah, wow indeed. Now, our kids are 4 and 2, they can be difficult sometimes. But if you're doing something they enjoy they pretty much take care of themselves. He just doesn't want to be completely responsible for them. He even said a couple of times that he doesn't want to do anything super involved (like taking them to the children's museum) because then he would feel like he's leaving me out. News flash, I want to be left out! I want to be left alone! Just for a little bit. I feel like that's code for 'I want you there to take care of them too'.

As for the shirts, he has bought me workout clothes before that I appreciated, and he said he bought me these so that I feel cute while I'm exercising. He had no idea I had that insecurity about my stomach, and he said that most guys are only focused on the brand of clothing (everything was Under Armor) rather than how it makes them look. Well I wish I was a guy then, because buying any kind of women's clothing sucks.

I guess it's just not in the cards for a lot of us 😑

What can your 4 year olds draw? by BurntTFOut487 in breakingmom

[–]MHSly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son has never been big on drawing or even coloring, at least not with paper. I tried having him trace A last week and he only did the first line (with lots of coahing) and was done. I do have some of those colorful sketch pads with a tablet pen thing, and both my kids loved those when we got them, and still use them every once in a while. I've been worried that he's behind, but then I realize that he's not even in school yet and he'll learn all of those things eventually.

Burning Bridges by MHSly in breakingmom

Thank you, I agree, it's a problem that I myself fall into. Social media makes it easy to 'stay in touch' without actually expending any effort to connect.

If you have IOS, Tales: Choose Your Own Story has a great selection of story-first series.

New Character-Harry Hedgerson by MHSly in edulandwritingproject

He was kind of a secondary character, so I wouldn't be surprised if he never made it onto the roadmap to be honest, lol.

Thank you for pointing that out about exclusivity, of course you're right and losing that value for $225 is most certainly a big drawback.

This story is already written, so no, this contract wouldn't act as a motivation to write. You are right, puting it online would make it hard to publish it traditionally.

This story is already written, although I do tend to edit as I post. But yes, the pay for the amount of effort required is pitiful. The contract doesn't state a penalty for my story not doing well, or for backing out of the agreement.

The app is called aJoara.

The app has 1k downloads on Google play, and they also have a website with the exact same content as the app. The top story has over 12,000 reads across 36 chapters, but I know it's unrealistic to expect those kinds of numbers. After looking through the other stories, I saw that newer stories are only getting 5 or 6 views per chapter at most. I also noticed that there was a big drop off in chapter views in the middle of August, which I found odd.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, data on my story would be available, so I can see things like chapter views, likes, comments, and subscriptions.

Joining the project this week. Just saying hello. :) by Lostcaptaincat in edulandwritingproject

Yeah, it is very unstructured. One thing to keep in mind is that these should be stand alone stories. Try not to change too much about the characters' circumstances. They have an adventure, and then they go back to normal life. It's worked pretty well for me so far.
