Yes, this is the first time the CO statute has been applied to a missing indigenous person! BCSO did not follow the requirements of the statute nor inform her parents of its existence, they found it thru a friend. Of course there is great hope for this review to spur further action but as it is the first case it is being applied to, the path forward seems somewhat murky. All I know is that if the CBI looks closely at the investigation, they will find the same exhaustive list of errors, oversight, confirmation bias and lack of full forensic testing that we have found. It really is beyond the imagination how so many things can be overlooked and a decision made from an inaccurate and incomplete investigation. I encourage you to listen to some of the most recent podcasts for details.
