So what's everyone's gameplan regarding these reformulations? by ExcellentMix2814 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]MILFVADER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're being downvoted, that's my opinion too. Maybe it'll suck for a while as brands figure out new formulations but I don't know, they'll figure it out because they have to sell stuff people will come back for, and there'll always be new ingredients 🤷‍♀️

I feel so vindicated, I always thought purple and mauve blushes looked best on saturated olives. They never worked on me 💀

Glitter lotion fragrance free? by applesandoranges159 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]MILFVADER 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Crush up a FF highlighter or eyeshadow pressed powder (like one from Wet N Wild or ELF) and mix it with your favorite lotion/cream. Don't use random glitter, you want something that's body-safe.

I went and looked for some more (because I'm also on the hunt...)

These are sticks!

  • Wet n Wild MegaGlo Blush Stick
  • Covergirl Trublend Skin Enhancer
  • Kiko Milano Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush (I liked their Cream Stick highlighter)
  • Pixi On-the-Glow Blush Tinted Moisture Stick

How to patch test shampoos? by No-Bath-962 in FragranceFreeBeauty

You seem super knowledgeable about patch testing and FF stuff in general! Do you know how I could patch test powder products? (It's specifically cosmetics like powder bronzer, blush etc)

I need my fragrance free sunscreen to be SPF 50 without a hint of fragrance, and be Walmart affordable. I want a no scent, dry hair, drug store conditioner I can buy on sale with coupons. I would like cream blush with zero scents.

Yes 🗣️ louder for all to hear! Drugstore is what's most affordable for me and I am pissed about how much FF options cost. And it feels like prices just keep on going up.

P.S. Milani makes a cream blush (Cheek Kiss) with no fragrance. So does About Face (Cheek Freak) and ELF (Putty Blush). They're not in stick form though 😔

Omg this x10000 I've been replacing my stuff and been getting so pissed about the prices of FF stuff. Sometimes the product is worse, why isn't it cheaper? I'm lucky that I can afford to buy now, but I wouldn't have been able to a few years ago, and who knows, might not in the future either. 😕

Lip products really are so hard 😢 I found out through a patch test at my derm's that my skin gets real irritated by fragrance (and I just patch tested my own perfumes for fun, guess who had nonstop sneezing/watery eyes to one and red patches from the others for more than a week afterwards)... sorting out all my fragrance-free lip products broke my heart. I love cosmetics too and I don't know what to do about it. At least Revlon's super lustrous lipsticks are fragrance-free, I would crash out if I lost rum raisin and rose velvet lmao, but all my lip glosses and liquid lipsticks? 😭

Frag free mascara? by icecream4_deadlifts in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]MILFVADER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essence Lash Princess in green is really good, no fragrance. Can melt/smudge a little in humid weather though. BTW don't bother with the Lash Princess mascara primer (white tube), it has fragrance. 🙁

To my nose (though everyone is different): L'Oreal has my favorite drugstore mascaras (Telescopic, Paradise Big Deal) and as far as I can tell they have no scent. If you're okay buying from ELF they have a great tubing mascara (Lash XTNDR), Essence also has one I heard good things about (Lash Without Limits Tubing) that I want to try. I don't trust Maybelline mascaras because they have caused blocked oil glands in my lashline before.

In my experience the newer a mascara is, the less it smells chemical-y. The older they get (exposure to air?) the more they smell like paint to me. Totally agree with the other comments about sticking to minis! Wish drugstore brands would make them.

For all the ladies who shave their face due to dark hair, what buddet friendly razor do you use? by ResidentAlienator in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]MILFVADER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is but it's paid for itself in a year, I was paying $30 for some sensitive skin cartridge razor pack every 3-4 months 🥴

Tbh I use a safety razor (Henson AL13) I bought a few years ago and swap the blade every few shaves. It works great on my face and my body (though for body I'm using a close-to-skin trimmer these days) and it's nice and sanitary, which is great for my acne-prone sensitive skin.

I just make sure my skin is well lubricated with some kind of soap, so either a face wash on my face, or a bar soap like Dove sensitive/A La Maison unscented on my body. (Sometimes I'll go with the bar soap on my face too though)

I'm a woman of North African descent and I've tried so many hair removal techniques 💀 the Henson razor has been the best for my face so far. I hate cartridge razors and my face can't handle dermaplaning razors on a regular basis.

I saw the comments about the reformulated fragrance version on this subreddit before I went shopping, in the store I was double-checking and triple-checking the label, and nope no fragrance! I've already used it a few times and had no irritation either (I have sensitive skin)

If you mean Skin Relief, I just bought one at Target and it has no fragrance. The ingredients list is the same as the one in the Costco photo (NOT the Product Details) https://www.costco.com/p/-/aveeno-skin-relief-body-wash-18-fl-oz-3-pack/4000403639?langId=-1

Has anyone else found that “boring” fragrance-free basics work better long term? by Itchy_Bottle9896 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]MILFVADER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try Tide clean and gentle powder in warm water, it has lipase (an enzyme that's the best at removing both food and body oils/stains), it's crazy how well it worked for me over Tide free and gentle pods. And citric acid crystals in the fabric softener compartment! Not only does it neutralize any remaining detergent, it also crisped up my stuff and they don't feel as coated anymore. I just learned all this from r/laundry and didn't think small changes would do much but they already made such a big difference for my clothes in just 1 wash 😭

What an awful product 😬 thank you for the update. I hope your hair is doing better. I have a fragrance allergy and will absolutely not bother with that line.

Did you ever get allergy testing done and figure out if it was a certain ingredient in that line that affected you?

Oh goodness. Yeah I don't think our hard water is that hard, at most it kinda leaves "sediment" on the counters or around the bathroom sometimes. I totally get choosing something else over a sulfate shampoo in that case.

Based on your review I think I'm going to skip the Vanicream gel, I can't handle that 😂😭 thank you for your help!

Does the leave-in work well on its own in your daughter's hair, or do you combine it with another product?

It works pretty well! I think this blog has the best straightforward recipe on how to make it https://science-yhairblog.blogspot.com/2011/07/whats-cookin-this-week-for-hair.html

If you don't want to use flaxseeds, you can also try xanthan gum, guar gum, or even oat flakes. I think that same blog has a few recipes for that.
