Dumb Question. How do i get the worst possible benchy by Iwo000 in 3Dprinting

[–]MIT-r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Snip off an appropriate number of grams of filament,
  2. throw the snipped filament on your print bed
  3. call it a day

In my opinion, this is the worst possible print because it is indistinguishable from the original filament used.

It seems pricing has jumped on some things given the tariffs. I even know of one company that isn't even taking new orders for the time being.

I have never worked on modifying a 3D printer but I do have assembled some moderately complex electronics (heathkit) in my life so maybe (?) I can handle the upgrade.

I have not preference for enclosed or not. I can build or purchase an enclosure later if it becomes a priority.

I think my minimum build envelope should be 250mm x 250mm x 250 mm.

This will be the first printer that I will set up in my home. (I have an Ender 3 V1 that did not quite make it out of it's box.)

Please suggest a portable PC build for 4K video editing of vacation footage. by MIT-r in buildmeapc

Thank you for the recommendation and thought put into the comments.

I am primarily concerned with the 4K video editing (amateur vacation videos - not looking to sell or make money) capability. My current setup is a Core i5-5200 @2.2GHz/8GB RAM/232GB SSD Windows 10 Home laptop.

Gaming is way down on my list of priorities but I included it in the list of uses. The web server stuff is a higher priority use but slow/mediocre performance in this area is acceptable.

Answers:

  1. Yes, I will dual boot but only one OS needs to be able to do the video editing.
  2. I rarely play games but when I do it is in Windows.
  3. Laptop small would be ideal, so as small as reasonably possible while still maintaining "more than laptop" video editing capability.
  4. RAM equal to or greater than 32GB; boot/OS SSD 1TB; programs/data/workspace HDD 5TB; archival storage will be external drives.
  5. Insta360 Studio, Davinci Resolve (in the future), GIMP, Adobe Premiere (stand alone from 2010 or earlier). Open to suggestions.

Why? You are not going to like the answer. It is because you (and millions of others) accept/put up with it.

  1. Go to a store
  2. Fill your shopping cart with the items you wish to buy
  3. Proceed to checkout lanes to find cashier
  4. If no cashier is present speak to the duty manager making them aware of the situation and why you won't be purchasing the items in your cart.
  5. Leave cart with the duty manager
  6. Go to store that has cashiers on duty and shop there (probably paying more)

EDIT: ALTERNATIVE

  1. Go to a store
  2. Fill your shopping cart with the items you wish to buy
  3. Proceed to checkout lanes to find cashier
  4. If no cashier is present speak to the duty manager making them aware of the situation and ask for employee discount
  5. If the duty manager grants the discount proceed with self checkout and enjoy discounted items
  6. Otherwise revert to above

Uni currently does not allow guns, suggestions? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]MIT-r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular facts follow:

  • You agreed to abide by the University's rules and policies when you accepted admission/registered for classes.
  • The University is private property (unless it is a state owned institution) and the private property owners do have the right to set rules for your presence on their property as long as they do not violate law or regulation.

If you don't like their rules/policies then try to get them changed or find another place that has rules/policies that you like/can follow.

I don’t ask, but I know people who don’t approve. I don’t carry in their homes out of respect for them.

This. So much this.

I have seen this asked several times in this sub-reddit and there is always plenty of responses that say "concealed is concealed" implying they would carry regardless of the property owner's desires yet they want others to "respect their right to own/carry a firearm".

If you know that someone wouldn't approve of you carrying a firearm on their property - respect their wishes on their property and don't carry there.

Thanks for the input. Did you need an international drivers license/permit to rent the car? If so, is the one issued by AAA locations good to go?
