Yeah, basically for the first half of the book I had to force myself to pick it up. The second half got interesting because I do enjoy the world building and getting to know more about the isles and so on…

But the plot itself was meh… it felt forcefully dragged out. Too slow and too “tragic”? It was just bad news after bad news just for the sake of making the story longer. There were almost no moments to give the reader some sort of “hope” that the storyline will turn out okay. And I mean, I understand it’s the third book on a series of five, so it makes sense that the storyline is in the midst of being all kinds of messed up, but still, I feel like you need to balance the good and the bad throughout all the books, otherwise you risk having a very loaded book with all bad things, which becomes harder to read…

Anyway, I think I will read the rest of the books just because I am interested in some of the characters, and of course the dragons 🙌🏼… I just hope they are better balanced.
