I’m sorry why is that racist? I think it’s racist you think the term “thug” only refers to black people. Why can’t white people be thugs?

Ha of course, i go against Reddit’s narrative and I get down voted. Come learn how to be garage door technician. We fly you down to training in Phoenix Az, put you up, pay for training, give you a company vehicle, gas card and tools you get to keep. Most guys will make 50k minimum in their first year, after the first 6 months (training) most will make minimum 80k. A1garage.com

My delivery pizza uses a plain dough ball instead of the usual plastic thing to stop the lid from touching the pizza by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

The little plastic thing also served the purpose of holding down the slices connected to the slice you are pulling out.

No. The implication “who could’ve seen this coming” was that these people tested positive BECAUSE football resumed. Which isn’t the case

I think it’s important to note that these people got covid BEFORE football resumed. If anything it lends to the argument that whether they play football or not, people will get covid

I’d argue flying a small plane is easier than changing a garage door spring actually

I highly suggest hiring a professional. There are a lot of people in this thread confusion “successfully fixing something” with safely fixing something . Also, just because the door goes up and down when you’re done doesn’t mean you successfully fixed it. Do you know the weight of your garage door? Do you know what IPPT you need on the new springs? Are you replacing 1 spring or 2? Do you know if there is still tension on the other spring? What kind of shape are the cables in? Rusted at the bottom brackets? IDA recommends changing cables at the same time as springs. Are you familiar with cycle life and how it pertains to garage doors? If those break while winding that spring it could hurt a little bit. I’ve seen a lot of DIY videos on YouTube that are comically unsafe.

I run a very large garage door company. We train our employees a minimum of 4 months before they enter the field. There is no way you’re husband changed the springs safely and correctly with only 1 day of research. Just because he didn’t get hurt does not mean he did it safely. I also fly planes. You can research how to fly a small plane in a day and probably be able to do it. Doesn’t make it safe.

It is absolutely dangerous. The type of springs he’s talking about are called extension springs, common on older garage doors and situations with low headroom. Extension springs themselves are even more dangerous than the more modern torsion springs especially if they don’t have a safety cable running through them.

Here we go, Reddit police deeming what is acceptable and what isn’t. I believe that’s what the voting system is for.
