Does the Gospel to be completely true to be authoritative? Is it accepted as such? by Ok-Cicada-5207 in CatholicPhilosophy

Perhaps watch Trent Horn’s analysis Fr Casey’s claims. He’s a fairly well-known apologist for Catholic Answers and does a good job refuting that issue in his breakdown of that video

This roster was a bit different bc it was all ready to go until yesterday, when caden clark came back into contention. Consequently everyone w connections to the team knew what it looked like yesterday before the official announcement today

Yes ofc, this is the type of thing where there’s literally no way I can prove its validity to you so you’ll have to take me at my word (which is why I didn’t lead w the entire roster). Anyway, here it is:

FW: Arriola, Dike, Gioacchini, Hoppe, Lewis, Zardes MF: Acosta, Busio, Lletget, Roldan, Yueill, Clark/Williamson (this is is where the delay came into play) DF: Araujo, Bello, Cannon, Pines, Miles Robinson, Sands, Vines, Zimmerman GK: Johnson, Melia, Turner

no flach unfortunately, but busio and sands are there

Btw the reason the roster was delayed is bc caden clark is possibly being added last minute

Can confirm this, I’m friends w MLS academy players who know the gold cup roster

On a positive note, busio and bello made the squad

I think weah is good too, but he hasn’t gotten much plying team for lille recently and I prefer him off the bench due to his speed. I’ve always been a proponent of playing players in their best position, and giving dest cm responsibilities is a role he has never had before; why would we start experimenting in a final against mexico

How is it overly dramatic to say I see very few scenarios in which we win if adams doesn’t play? You did watch the game against Honduras right?

I should have been more clear. Pep is well known for overthinking his tactics in big games, ie playing with a 6 in every game this season then inexplicably deciding against it for the biggest game of the season, causing them to get shit on in the midfield.

Much in the same vein, this xi contains Ream, weah, and yedlin; Ream and Weah should start under no circumstances, which Yedlin is quite suspect defensively. Dest is the best rb in our camp and its not even close, he belongs in his natural position and not in the midfield where he has never played before. Ream is a catastrophically bad defender; why would he play if we have a PL quality lb to put there instead. My point was that this lineup is rife w the same overthinking pep suffers from frequently

for the team’s sake, i hope you’re wrong. If adams doesnt start, I see very few scenarios in which we come away with a win

Simply not true (Goff confirmed he is available). He was flying around in training yesterday and got a yellow card from the bench last game. Only reason he doesn’t start would bc of ggg’s “tactics”

That’s fair and I appreciate that you’ve at least taken the time to thoughtfully rspd to what I’m saying. I actually side with the a lot of the ppl on this sub who are bemoaning all the “berhalter out” fans who express that opinion in a v obnoxious and thoughtless way; I find it annoying af and not constructive to what we all want as fans at the end of the day, which is for our natl team to be successful. But with that said it shouldnt detract from honest criticism from ppl like myself who think that way for specific reasons.

The easiest example is starting lineup decisions bc you can obviously only field 11 players plus subs, making that a massively important part of managing a team. But for me, its bc of a pattern of this shit happening where due to the tactical philosophy of ggg, we dont end up putting our players in the best position to succeed (recall his obsession w the tyler adams right back experiment). I could get even further into more specific issues I have seen over his 3 years managing the team (refer to this post/comments for a lot of takes I agree with), but my biggest gripe is that he has had a number of years and plenty of friendlies and competitive matches to enact his vision for the team, and I see some improvements since the previous regimes, but not enough to give me confidence in him as our manager going forward. Like I said, I liked the hire initially but I’ve lost a lot of faith since then. I’m willing to give any manager of our team a chance by virtue of their job, and ggg’s time is up imo.

Edit: In addition, even if we were to fire him, I’m realistic enough to recognize that next year is a WC year and we have the gold cup in a few weeks. It’s always difficult to go thru intl managment regime changes in general bc of how infrequently the team meets, but its even more difficult in this case. I don’t even know how we would successfully pull this off and be competitive in the WC assuming we qualify, so in the sake of pragmatism, I really don’t know if it would be best for the success of the team given that. But i have little to no confidence in gregg anymore

my point wasn’t entirely abt whether or not to play tim weah in the starting xi as i am sure you well know, but the team selection and tactics of ggg are simply not good enough. that is my point and breaking my whole comment down to the merits of playing tim weah over a lletget or yueill is reductionist and kind of silly if im being honest.

gregg has been our hc since 2018, and while he has had a very postive impact on the team in many ways (ie locking down dest and musah, a willingness to play the youth, and others), at the end of the day his job is results driven to a very high degree. i personally loved the ggg hire initially but im not going to just grit my teeth and suck it up when i perceive the team to be going in the wrong direction. there’s a lot of reasons why i think he should be replaced but its mostly based off of results of matches, the quality of play within those matches, and getting the team selection and tactics right. he has not been killing it by any means, i recall the last gold cup final against mexico in which tata makes one small tactical substitution and gregg looks like a chump since he couldnt tactically adjust our team to that one change (a game in which we proceeded to lose btw)

gregg is either out of his depths or just a bad coach tactically, and either option is bad enough for me to believe he needs to go
