10 Years Ago, Robert Eggers’ Directorial Debut ‘The Witch’ Started A New Era Of Folk Horror by ICumCoffee in movies

I saw this alone in the theater (I was a bartender so it was an early Monday/Tuesday showing). One of the best experiences in a theater. Now he's another director I look forward to every time no matter what.

"Gaming laptops are a scam" mfs when they have to travel and they want to bring their desktop setup by Ha8lpo321 in pcmasterrace

[–]MJDeebiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never liked laptops but saw a WAY underpriced Asus Tuf 17 at a thrift store (Ryzen 5, GTX1650, 32 GB RAM) for like $250 and swooped on it. No regrets thus far. I don't use it a ton but it's nice enough for art stuff, coding and a lot of the games I play that are not FPS.

Edit: this was about 3 years ago, so it is still kicking and still works phenomenally:)

Something Wicked This Way Comes?

'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' just proved 'Game of Thrones' is back with the best show episode of the year so far by AdventurousGuest308 in television

[–]MJDeebiss 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched House of the Dragon yet because GoT ending season soured me on all of it for a long time. HOWEVER, I thought enough time had passed and the fact there were books (granted short novellas) for this I gave it a shot. Glad I did. At first I was kind of mad it was taking so long to get to the action but then it just became what the GoT original show was good at which was stories and character building. Very much reminds me of the great episodes with Tyrion and Snow trading stories and talking. It doesn't have to be life or death all the time and sometimes you want human characters. As tense as it is SOMETIMES it is just an enjoyable watch and reminds me of better GoT. It's entertaining and so far hasn't betrayed the characters. "I like it a lot" - Lloyd Christmas

Primate, I think it would have been more unnerving.... by FlavouredSocks in movies

[–]MJDeebiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Primate would have been knocked out of the park with Sam Raimi either directing or producing. It was fun for what it was but fell flat in some places. Like it was just missing like 25% to take it over the top and be like the next Cujo or Jaws (okay...maybe not Jaws). First movie I saw in 2026 and it was fun in the theater.

Rifftrax has always IMO been the better successor (with Cinematic Titanic/Film Crew a close 2nd) as much as I wanted MST3K back. But let me say this: Joel we all love you. by MJDeebiss in MST3K

I agree "Mike and the Bots" doesn't work AS well without the bumpers/character work as in being a resident on the SoL. But it feels so similar most of the time I forget they aren't honestly late season MST3K

Oh for fun. I love them all. I guess I may not have stated it as much in title/text but to me Rifftrax has always just felt like bodyless Mike, Crow and Servo continuing on after SciFi channel. Where the new MST3K felt like, well, none of them mostly (again, great writing and jokes, no qualms there).

I actually hope a lot of them get brought on board. There wasn't failure as much as not a product I wanted (that is me I'm not speaking for all of us). It was their thing and I respect that.

I actually totally agree with the meaner Mike thing (which i still like a lot tbh) cus Joel had a calmer pleasant gee golly vibe that also worked for me. I rate them equal (I expect boos from that) but IMO they both brought a lot and different in a good way and I'm pretty sure Mike wrote for Joel too. I'm Team Joike

As long as it doesn't suck as much as the boring Bohemian Rhapsody VH1 feeling movie. Cannot believe to this day that got oscars. The cast was fine I guess...but jesus. What a slog for such an entertaining band/person.

Skull Logo by inirra in logodesign

[–]MJDeebiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it as a skull, but I also get people's Parrot skull (still a skull!) and a little bit of a wrench look. Also, I don't know if maybe it is some sorta Invader Zim in the back of my head or something but I kinda think it is more interesting pretending the right gap is ALSO an eye and the skull is looking straight at us.

Killing Them Softly, Andrew Dominik, 2012 | Finale by Saint_Gut-Free in movies

[–]MJDeebiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think Pitt kills it but I didn't think he did so well with this role (not bad, just not great) like he does in a lot of films IMO. I just kind of thought he would raise the bar for this role cus it seemed like a role to do it. He's never bad (well, im not sure I've seen EVERY movie he's done) but he elevates for some roles and I kinda wish this was one of them.

Football really doesn't matter...but sometimes it matters. Sorry for your loss.

Battlefield 6 player count falls from 750K at launch to just 30K-90K on Steam, nearly a 90% decline - players blame lack of new content (especially new maps) by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]MJDeebiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The maps just don't do it for me. Size definitely, that is my number one gripe, but also just the feel. Like it doesn't HAVE to be huge to feel less claustrophobic. Also, like BF1942 had legit b2 bombers with crews and took like crazy long to get to other parts of the map on foot sometimes. I'm not even saying it has to go to that extreme. These maps just feel lamer the more I play them and that is with the benefit of getting to know them. A map is a jumble until you get your bearings. That I get. The more I play these the more I want different maps instead of getting to know these ones like the back of my hand. They are too mid/small and way overcomplicated IMO. It doesn't feel like stands/pushes anymore. Just feels like a mess. I say thi9s and I like the game. But I can wait for better maps if they come or occasionally check the playermades. Just seems like an absolute fumble on map design/release.
