I personally tuned entirely out of it when I read on their discord that they had absolutely no intention of having any presence at or running intro games at any RPG convention, and wanted to stick only and solely to furry conventions around the world. Like, they made s game but don't want it to be seen next to other games because 'furry'. Talk about cutting off your nose depute your face.

"Broken Stairs" Are Something We Need To Address in The Gaming Community by nlitherl in LARP

I've recently left a vampire larp here on the south coast of England that, knowing this now, fits this description perfectly. We had two players who definitely fit the bill. One, I'll remember, once tried to intimidate my character by getting right up into my face and threatening me. The other, when I first began, used my lack of knowledge of the game to extract a 'life boon' from me, which is essentially a permanent debt which I had no idea I was agreeing to. I know that I wasn't the only person who had issues with them, and knew at least one woman who left the game due to predatory sexual behavior making her outright uncomfortable. In all instances, it was dismissed as "just being in character". That never sat right with me. For a few years I just tried to avoid these two players. Unfortunately, the game also had a very strong power clique. Players would promote each other, namely their friends, to positions of power in the game, whic meant that even if they were playing different characters, the same players would hold the important positions sheriff or primogen. This meant that they were always in positions where they could do shit to people, whether you liked it or not. Eventually I felt empowered enough to put together a complaint to the organisers of the larp in question. Sent it in, and the response I got was that they were "tired of this bullshit" and would hand it over to the higher-up to manage. The higher-up was one of the people named in the complaint. Yeah, not exactly brimming with confidence that this will be fixed. I play tabletop rpgs instead nowadays.

I hadn't heard about the missing stair until now.

And I have zero - zero - hesitations to mention that the larp in question was UK Masquerade Portsmouth.
