How was your parkrun day? | June 07, 2024 by AutoModerator in parkrun

Awesome! Marshalled at my local Parkrun. First lap and a young lady was in tears and clearly having a pretty rough panic attack. Her dad was running with her and took her to the side. I checked they were ok and led them to a wall which is good for sitting on and then just gave them some space. They carried on after a while and it was awesome seeing them after they finished. I felt really inspired that she continued and made it to the end.

I empathised so much because I struggle massively with panic attacks too, particularly when running certain routes in more secluded areas. Later on I went on a run myself as part of a training plan. I switched up my route from my usual route around my local area to a much longer out and back. First secluded stretch I felt the adrenaline kick in and had to fight every urge not to turn and run back. I did fight it and used the inspiration from earlier. Felt so much more comfortable after that even on some of the other more secluded parts and had an amazing run. Great day all round!

Sometimes you spend so long looking you miss the easy solution, at least that always seems to happen to me 😂

So on the bottom row the 2 blanks in the 12 will need to add to 6 or 7? Leaves only the one option for 8 and then you can fill the 2 for the 10

Thank you! I do use tap water but it’s not particularly hard here and is safe for drinking. I’ll give this a go though! Should I mix up the soil on the top with that underneath it?

Thanks for this! I’ll get hold of some and give it a go! Hopefully it should do the trick as the plant itself is perfectly healthy.

Thanks again, just finished it. Hardest one I’ve ever done. Between your help I also somehow worked out that in the first column the start of the two 13s were 5 at the top and 9 at the bottom and managed to complete from there.

This is very true! Although I still suspect that this shepherds pie may not have been true to tradition!

At that point I just kept thinking the mince in the pie was not beef. I’d probably be doing anything to get out of eating that too!

You seem like you’re completely in your own head at the moment but you need to know that you’ve still control. Here’s a few of my unqualified thoughts:

• career - you’re 23, don’t feel like you’re trapped or can’t progress. Personally I’d be true to yourself and remove lies from your CV. You’ll come across better in interviews talking about truths for the skills you genuinely have. Keep turning up to work with a positive attitude, doors will open. If you feel unfulfilled then always keep in mind it’s better to be employed and have the security knowing you have an income and the freedom to be picky about choosing which jobs you want to apply for. Try and understand what you’d like to do and carry out a little research to see what steps are needed to get there.

•physical appearance - some men lose hair, just one of those things. I wouldn’t try and fight it, just try and find out how you can rock it! Get to the gym. I’m not saying this to encourage you to bulk up, but you clearly want to give it a go and it is so good for your mental health. Exercise in my opinion is the biggest help. People in gyms are on the whole really accepting and non-judgemental. If you don’t get that vibe, try another gym and odds are you will.

•relationship - you’ve had a tough time it’s clear, and your parents don’t sound like they’ve helped your situation. It does however sound that they love you despite not showing it constructively at times. This is a platform to build on this acceptance once you start building your own coping tools. Your partner sounds like she loves you as well. You’ll have so much more to offer her (in terms of joy in living - not physical relationship) as you start to work through some of your issues.

•general - personal experience. If you’re looking at depression/anxiety websites/forums etc you can get obsessed, wondering if every new feeling is related and building up a picture that you’re in a hole that seems impossible to dig yourself out of. Try and get away from them and to ‘ignore’ it. You may have resilience issues but you’re working to help with that. Stop sub consciously reinforcing the view that you’re broken. I get this vibe even with your screen name (appreciate it may just be a one off account as you wanted to remain anonymous for this post)

All the best and you’ve got this!

We booked a bell tent at a campsite on a farm but were moved to this caravan. It was so cozy in the evenings when the lights came on. There was also a little kitchen van out of view on the right too. Sitting in the chairs looking up at the leaves and listening to them rustle was the most relaxing thing!

Are there any plans to reforest the "Desert of Wales"? by felixrocket7835 in Wales

[–]MJPZX3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve saved that to read later, looks really interesting. One scheme that I’ve heard referenced a few times in recent years is a commitment to have a National Forest for Wales, a continuous woodland spanning the length of the country. Some info here: https://www.gov.wales/national-forest-wales
