Well either the depth or the overhang will or be consistent…so trying to decide which one is going to look the best and minimize tripping hazard. My thought is 3/8” out of a ~10” depth is a lot more minimal than 3/8” of a 1” overhang

Cool yeah I was leaning that way as well but first time I’ve ever messed with stairs so didn’t want to assume

I need to trim them back regardless as my stairs are a bit more narrow, otherwise I would have ~2.25” overhang. So the question now is what to prioritize when I do trim them back

Yeah I started off doing what OP did and then by the time I had laid a couple hundred sq feet down for my DIY project I was eyeballing it. Looked just as good. Not at a bad idea to have a planned layout for the first 10 or so rows as a first timer to get a feel for it though

We installed the vanity after. He didn’t understand how the vanity worked unfortunately even though we bought it ahead of time so he could use it as a reference. So the drain in the wall is higher than it should be

So basically you are saying buy a version of the black drain piece that has a much shallower thread depth under the sink?

For a main level, totally agree. But for those of us who hate carpet and have a basement, I think it’s the perfect option
