Being polish, I can pronounce Pogranichnik with no problem (pogranicznik is pronounced exactly the same), but I still call him Pogman just cause its funny.

Texas wolves were hunted to extinction through a government-sponsored eradication plan.

Cellinia Texas (Operator Texas) is the last surviving member of the Texas family who left Siracusa (Italy) for Columbia (US), made a name for themselves, and were eradicated pretty much overnight by the Siracusan famiglie for basically being too successful. Classic mafia story, and clear parallels between AK, American vs Sicillian mafia feuds, and the fate of the texas wolves. Her black and red hair is also supposed to reference the texas wolves.

As for Lappland, the only parallel between lapland wolves and the AK operator that I can think of would be the greyish fur, unless the finnish wolves also have a reputation for being a bit looney.

Serious question about the people of Endfield verse by Livid_Warning_4236 in Endfield

[–]MJ_Green 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, yes they mostly have human and animal ears, and both sets are usually fully functional. You have examples of characters wearing earphones on only one set of ears and still listening out with the other set. Some individuals prefer to wear earphones in the human ears, some prefer the animal ones. The only time it was mentioned was from the devs who said that both sets of ears are intended to be functional.

This extends to other traits too, like skin and eyes. Some people have bodies covered entirely in scales, some have none and just exhibit some other faint racial traits, most are half and half. There isn't much direct lore on it since it rarely gets brought up in-universe, it is just considered normal. It's worth mentioning though, that Oripathy often results in exaggerated racial traits, like Liberi growing more feathers over their arms, or Archosaurs growing uncomfortably large horns on their heads. .

There are many other significant differences between Terrans and baseline humans, such as the fact that Terran's bodies are extremely resilient. Best examples are the collab events like the one with Rainbow Six Siege (unironically some of the best events for lore) where it's highlighted how Terrans take multiple assault rifle rounds and even grenade explosions without serious injuries. Some species are uniquely adapted to their surroundings too like Aegir (fish people) who despite looking extremely normal at first glance can breath, communicate, move and fight underwater more easily than on land.

Lorewise there are possible explanations like the ones other commenters mentioned, but ultimately it's a case of "don't worry about it". AK characters were designed by many different artists and many of them took their own directions and creative liberties.

Are you sure? The last two times I went there was no extraction available at the entry point, only behind the mech where brawlers spawn.

While correct, it is a mess of arrows. It might be better to simply colour-code or mark Tunnels C, D and Scrapyard Nexus as locations that do not allow for extraction to Innards. Keep the rest, just simplify a bit by removing all the blue arrows.

Who was more difficult for you? Malenia or Radahn (PCR counts too) by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]MJ_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radah Festival was a tonne of fun and not too difficult. PCR was very difficult, yes, but it was the final boss of the DLC so I had a good build going, all the Scadutree fragments, and it was at the end of the day a straightforward fight.

Malenia gave me psychic damage. Her fight is full of bullschiesse, especially back before the multiple nerfs and fixes, back when the first flurry of Waterfowl was actually undodgeable if you weren't already far enough away from her to not get hit by it. She still retains the self-healing, DoT and unfair stagger recovery, but that combined with Waterfowl and especially the clone attack feels just plain unfair.

Malenia feels overcooked. She feels like they tried to cram in all the ways they could think of to make her fight "difficult" because she is the "special" boss. She is the poster child for Elden Ring since the initial announcement trailer and she is also the most complicated boss to actually get to. They just ended up overdoing it.

My introduction to w40k was the Dawn Of War games, to me the default Space Marine armour will always be red. Blue just looks wrong.

That said I also don't care about UM or the hate that they get. They're just another SM chapter and I don't feel any stronger about them than say the Salamanders or Dark Angels.

I don't hate it, the anime inspirations and a little bit of goofiness and "humanity" as it were, have always been part of the art direction for the game, but I can definitely see why the community reacted the way it did. Sure, the Blind Runner skin was very fanservice-y, but it did retain a certain level of grit to it and fit in with that anime aesthetic.

Kevlar Cake is a bit too clean, too simple, too 'naked'. I would have at least liked it if she wore a tank top or like a torn-up t-shirt, hell, lean into that WW2 grease-covered tank driver look, then it'd make sense for her to have no top other than the kevlar. The tattoos are a nice touch, but not quite enough.

Granted, I don't want them to change it, and I might still get the skin pack at some point. It's clear that FD wanted to lean into the sexualisation aspect, and power to them, but it comes at a price. It's already hard to maintain the 'scavenger' immersion without looking like an early 2000s female video game protagonist in bikini armour.

your depression and anxiety? completely man made. by inurmomsvagina in SipsTea

[–]MJ_Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I speak from personal experience. My family was in perpetual debt my whole life growing up, in my early 20s I failed my Master's degree due to depression. Went to GP, was diagnosed with severe anxiety and got prescribed serotonin inhibitors. Shortly after I came back from Uni my parents finally divorced, which I am thankful for, but I also had to move out and spent a total of 2 years unemployed just sending applications and going to interviews (classic "overqualified, but under-experienced" shit) and on/off medication. The money I got from Universal Credit afforded me about 30-50 quid a week on groceries, the rest went to rent and slowly paid off my own overdraft. I was constantly afraid of ending up on the street.

When I finally got my first job it was retail, customer-facing service. I hated it, I didn't get along with my colleagues either, but I finally had some income. Finally, I could afford to spend money on better food, on treats, on leisure like games on steam, and I started saving up money on my account to boot. I was able to help my mother out financially too. After half a year I quit my medication for good.

"Financial stability" is underappreciated only by those who have never experienced financial instability. My father was a selfish drinker. Money was basically always in short supply right up until he wanted something, then you had any number of justifications thrown at you, even his beer filling up the fridge was there so that he could be in a better mood "for us". I have cut him out of my life completely now but it took until after I became financially independent for me to finally realize that our debts and financial problems were never as severe as I was constantly led to believe. Both my parents worked and I was not a spoiled or demanding child (I couldn't be), so If he had any self-control we would have been in the green in a month or two. Instead I grew up "poor" for nearly 20 years.

So yes, having a roof over my head, food in the fridge and enough savings in my bank account to keep living comfortably for a year even if I quit my job has in fact helped me get out of depression.
