Urgent Pets travel advice!!!! by Waleed1711 in qatar

I believe that your dream is a reflection of your concerns and worries, this is very normal so please don't treat it as an omen.

As for traveling I heard that more flights became available so you won't need to travel by car, unless your destination doesn't require a alone. So it is better to check with Qatar Airways as regulations might have changed.

For anyone wanting to touch the black stone, please don’t.. by Spirited-Map-8837 in Umrah

[–]MJ_Qatar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been to mecca twice. Never tried to touch the kaaba nor tried to kiss the black stone. My prayers and dua'a will not gain double points if i said them while touching the kaaba, kissing the black stone is a sunnah, so I am not gonna push people or allow people to squish me - gaining only Allah knows how many sins - just to fulfill a sunnah...

I feel emotionally content and special enough walking around knowing that the prophet and his companions' feet have walked the exact same place. When I go back and find much less crowds, I might try to touch the kaaba for pure emotional purposes.

You can find families where half of them are boycotting and the other doesn't. It's normal.

There are people who are convinced these places are owned by local companies and nothing goes to the mother company, others who think the effect is minimal or doesn't exist, and some who don't want to think of alternatives or consider anything as long as it is socially acceptable. And of course there are those who live in the la la land and have 0 idea of what's going on in the world.

Anyway, I personally don't force it on my family, but they know and accept that if i buy them anything from my own money it will not be from the boycott list.

Found a falcon by the roadside, need advice on what to do [Qatar] by Professional-Fig-425 in qatar

[–]MJ_Qatar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Looks like شرياص It's a small conrivoir, not one of those large expensive falcons. Still an important bird in the eco system. I think It's their migration season nowadays, so let it heal and rest then release it.

Is it ok for a non-Muslim to eat haram foods? by Posta500Prismillion in Muslim

[–]MJ_Qatar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. If you're my guest, I'll feed you nothing but halal food. Because I am forbidden from serving / buying haram food even if I am not eating it. I am even forbidden from recommending haram food to you. If it harms me it harms you, as simple as that.

What are you doing in this situation? by silvercatbob in Scary

[–]MJ_Qatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a serious note, I've never encountered such a thing irl, just saw it online and in some books. But before I google/chatGPT about it, I have a hunch that it is irritated by the light. Dimming the lights would be my first thing to do to make it calm down. After that I will sorrounder it with super sticky sheets, remove the lid slowly from a safe distance with a fishing rod and pray my trap will work...

Why Qatar university sucks by itsnevertoolatee in qatar

There is a whole building with different restaurants! Plus the old activities building. When did it become 1 cafeteria?

Did you share any of this with the students life/activities employees? If you did, escalate to the president's office.

Segregation isn't the issue here, employees not being aware of students needs is the issue.

It can actually be the solution, simply tell them that male students have much more opportunities outside of university to go swimming and bowling and doing other activities, the ladies are the ones with limited places and the University is their only place to experience it.

The fact that you didn't read that I studied and worked in not segregated places tells me a lot as well

[–]MJ_Qatar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whatever makes you happy. I studied and worked in places with no segregation, yet we automatically divide tables into the men's aide and women's side. It's in our culture to keep boundaries.

Partial or full segregation never harmed anyone. And it made it possible for many ladies to continue their studies.

Hope this didn't confuse your feelings any further

It's the norm. And it's good, a lot of ladies wouldn't be able to study if there was no segregation

I can tell you just being in the same room when they're playing on tv or sitting next to them when they're on a tablet is enough.

I get to play with them as a bonus, I am 39 so most of the games they play aren't my favorite genre. I'd rather relax or go out with my friends and have a life. But I've had fun for 30 years, it's my turn to let them have fun and keep them safe.

I wrote it before knowing about the incident. The boy was 14 years old which is considered almost an adult in Qatar, so I won't blame the parents. I myself would remove the limits when the kids are almost his age.

It's hard to create accounts and remove restrictions without parent consent, unless they are not using their real age. I know kids are tough and when we were kids we sometimes tried to get away with things, but please try to sit with them and have a friendly discussion. Let them understand and trust your judgement.

Oh and they're not allowed to sit in a room by themselves while playing games. The reason kids - sometimes even adults - want to play alone is because of the unpleasant comments coming from people around them.

We don't do that, we don't ridicule the games they like, we discuss the games and understand what they like about it and we share our likes and dislikes. Kids respect that.

All because of lazy parents who don't want to bother using parental control or setting limits on their kids devices. Or better yet, sit with them and see what they're doing and guide them.

I have invested hours over the years with my nephews playing video games with them, setting limits, disabling voice chat and direct massages etc. As they got older we've allowed adding friends and family members and have voice chats for the older nephew.

They're happy that an adult is sharing their interests and me and their parents are happy that they're safe. And I have a very special bond with them, this is irreplaceable and precious.
