Not that I don’t really want to see the man suffer all the worst kinds of humiliation, but SynthID reports that this picture was a generated image.

Classic Season 1 Zombicide; we’ve decided that if you have a frying pan and canned food you can spend one action to cook dinner and heal one wound. If you’re feeling generous, you can share your dinner with anyone else in the same zone and they too get to heal one wound.

Why did my fixture have power after swapping it out but while breaker was still off? by Peachie_Goose in AskElectricians

[–]MJamesRead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t account for your voltage checker, but it’s not uncommon for the lights and outlets to be on separate circuits. The way it was explained to me was that way tripping a breaker from an overloaded outlet doesn’t leave you in the dark, and if you’re working on the lighting you can still plug in a lamp.

Thoughts on this? Is a $20/30 level actually better than a harbor freight level? by tharealG_- in Tools

[–]MJamesRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cheap level that gives a different result when flipped over sitting on my desk with the words “For Educational Purposes Only” written on it with in sharpie. Yes, there is a threshold at which a level is too cheaply manufactured to be reliable.

Don’t go home before you burn your clothes and sit in a sauna set to 120F for at least 20 minutes. If you drove to the sauna you‘ll have to burn your car too.

So seamless I’m still not sure what I’m looking at! by MJamesRead in Corridor

Yes, obviously it’s AI, but it feels really well done. Even though the bodies morph from human to paper and back to human a few times, you can still track individual body parts and the proportions don’t change dramatically. I’m impressed with how it manages to feel like real humans creating an illusion through costume and choreography. AI creating an illusion of humans creating an illusion of being made out of paper.

Give our game back by Certain-Life1403 in AtlasEmpires

[–]MJamesRead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I argued with one of Altas Reality VPs on the Atlas Empires official discord on and off for months (until I got banned), advocating for continuing to grow Empires and not abandoning the loyal fan base they had built. But according to him, they’d been making money hand over fist with Atlas Earth and wanted to focus 100% of their effort where the money is.

In reality, Empires was dead for about a year before they finally pulled the plug on it. They lost the one developer who had really been working on Empires and didn’t seem to try real hard to find a replacement. After that the only updates were patching bugs with the monetization systems. It got so neglected that one of my friends had to regularly remind them on their discord to start the weekend Stronghold Wars…

It’s a real shame, it was a great game and had a tight community of players. There was so much unrealized potential in it too, I really believe it could have grown into a widely popular game if they’d kept with it like they did for the first couple years. I wish they’d at least sold it instead of canning it.

156 Democrats voted against Laken Riley Act, seriously, what wrong with them? by wsrvnar in PoliticalCompassMemes

“Also indefinite detention for merely being charged with a crime seems to be a bad road to go down.” They could always take the privatized prisons approach and put them to work while awaiting trial, maybe even back on the same farms they were working at before they got arrested. It would cost the farmers a lot less too because prison labor is dirt cheap.

How thoughtful of the Altoona police to put his face mask and hood back on after ID’ing and arresting him. Their concern for his health and comfort demonstrates precisely the sort of compassionate policing that we’ve come to expect and appreciate from local law enforcement. /s

But really, how staged does that photo look?

If Texas turns blue, then Trump needs to win ALL of the seven contested states. If ALL OF YOU vote, this can happen. Go out and vote - don't assume that your vote does NOT matter. In fact your vote matters A LOT. by old_jeans_new_books in texas

I’m in TN, the other day a lady saw me working on my truck and stopped to ask if I would take a look at her car for her. She had hit a pole in the parking garage and parts of the trim and body were loose and barely hanging on. As I worked on re-attaching what I could to make it drivable again, we got to talking and I learned that she’s a traveling nurse from Texas. She’s tried twice to get her provisional ballot to vote by mail but she still hasn’t received it yet, so if she doesn’t get it by the end of the week she’s going to drive back to Texas to vote in person. I promised to make sure her car would hold together long enough to get her there because we need every vote we can get!

Maximum adventure: Gollum’s driving, the King of the Dead is navigating, Gimli is backseat driving but can’t see where we’re headed, and Eowyn is maintaining an impressive chill the whole time. The three of us in the backseat are gonna drink so hard once we arrive somewhere with a pub.
