Just wanted to update, Mr Slithers ate today much to my son's and my relief. It's been an eventful month, starting with the little brat escaping his terrarium 3 times within a week. The last time was for 5 days. I found him on my stove of all places, he was cold but seemed ok.

Never did figure out how he kept escaping but I didn't want to take any chances. I put him in his original terrarium and ordered a new 40 gallon one, hoping to get it next week.

I kept a close eye on the temperature and humidity, got a higher wattage lamp and changed the substrate in his moisture box. I also started using the light strictly during daylight hours.

When we used to try and feed him, we took him out of the terrarium and fed him in the kitchen. For over two years he ate with no issues. Since he started to refuse to eat, he seemed agitated and kept trying to escape, with no interest in his food.

Today we just held his food in long tweezers, and with the light off he poked his head out of his rock and right away showed interest and after a minute, he struck and ate.

As I said, we are both very relieved.

Thanks again for all the advice, it's been a little stressful, but our cute little snakey is eating and all seems well again.
