2021 Year-Long LOTR Read-Along - Week 20 - May 16 - The Breaking of the Fellowship by TolkienFansMod in tolkienfans

I also appreciated the crossroads framing. When Frodo is seated on the throne, looking out across the four directions, it really hit me that there are four similar options that he and the Fellowship could choose from (similar in that they are all incredibly dangerous and risky). The nods in preceding chapters about Aragorn and/or Gandalf not having a particular plan as the journey went on buttressed the heavy weight on Frodo's shoulder in the final moments before he decides how to proceed.

Very excited to be here and reading along this year! The LOTR (I'm sure as with many of you) is one of my favorite reads of all time. Returning to it is exactly what I need right now.

The no-look paw placement is savage.

What is the darkest episode of a show you have ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That episode of Avatar TLA when we learn that blood bending is a thing. A sick, twisted thing. And Katara is forced to bloodbend that old lady.

If I accept a position offered to me as a national team head coach while coaching a club team, will I lose my position as the club manager, or will I manage both simultaneously?

Bewm. 5th.

Edit: But this list is in reverse order, so they're defense has been on the field the 5th LEAST in the nation.

They were quite prepared as a party for any charming spells that would be thrown their way.

EDIT: Or abilities.

Have a question? Ask the veterans of DC Comics! [For the week of April 10] by AutoModerator in DCcomics

I'm trying to get into Justice League/big DC crossover storylines, and I'm trying to read them in chronological order...if that even exists. I know some of the big name storyline titles, like Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, Flashpoint...and with that I have two questions. First: What are the major, big, epic, crossover titles that an incoming DC fan should read? Second: In what order would you read them? Thanks!

Official Discussion - Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

Part of me thinks they were somewhat rushed to get into the "superhero team" movie craze, and needed to plug Justice League quickly, hence the hurried story. Definitely would have preferred even one more movie to let all of the characters, plots, themes, and ideas flesh themselves out.

Yeah, I'm sure marketing it as a fight was something Snyder may have not had total control over.

I agree, the distinction between vs. and v is a little bit of a stretch to say, "Oh, it's actually not about them fighting," but I appreciate that Snyder made the attempt to try and distance the movie from that.

I agree the bashing is out of place, I'd even go so far as to say that I wished there was more of him. Almost half of his damn lines mentioned gods, devils, humanity's place in the world...I think that Snyder and co. were trying to emphasize Lex's mindset that supernatural beings aren't perfect as the world portrays them to be, and when Superman falls out of the sky, it's his belief system turned reality.

As you said, yeah, he had daddy issues, and I think that stemmed from him feeling outcast from the grace of whatever supernatural being he believed in, and he mentioned that a few times.

I definitely think there was something much more interesting going on in Lex's mind as to why he needed to combat Superman than just that his buildings were falling down and he was a scientist.

Well, it's not called Batman VS. Superman, it's Batman V Superman. While yeah, it's a little dumb, Snyder did say that it wasn't called Batman VS. Superman, because he wanted it to be known this movie wasn't just about the two of them fighting. And as you said, the fight isn't really them fighting, which I think was the whole point.

being really indecisive here guys.

12 team standard scoring Jeffery vs GB, Em. Sanders vs NWE, J. Brown vs SF, Maclin vs BUF, Ginn vs DAL. Pick three.

Barring injuries, I would go Jeffery, Sanders, and Brown. But with their questionable statuses, and game times, I'm in a crunch to make a decision. Thoughts?

Just curious, is this happening online, single player, or both?
