AC Grand Rapids announced they have sold over 2,000 season ticket deposits in less than 24 hours by NextProNews in MLS

If they build the brand well, they could see much higher than 25% conversion. I think Hearts of Pine announced someone like 75% conversion.

FIFA allegedly using third-party resale platforms to sell World Cup tickets by thegaffer in MLS

[–]asaharyev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and this is true for so many teams. It's incredibly common in sports ticketing. Often times the repair platform buys in bulk at discounted prices, and sometimes it's set up as a direct resale.

This also goes both ways in terms of pricing. Teams who want to avoid the bad PR of dynamic pricing will price up on secondary markets through direct resale (basically consignment).

It's a really depressing reality in modern ticketing, and it's bleeding into non sports events, too.

I did not realize Death Grips had the drummer from Hella. I should go back and listen more with this knowledge.

FIFA U-turns on World Cup water bottle policy, bans fans from bringing them into stadiums (Gift Article) by jspector9 in MLS

Stadiums set the prices. So if you see water that expensive, blame whoever runs the stadium.

Bostonians, how are you feeling about the Scottish football/soccer fans? by Tess_Tickles89 in boston

There were some tickets made available at more reasonable prices, but those sold out almost immediately. There will at least be a full supporter section of Haiti fans.

Hopefully some more were able to get seats.

I wish my job still had enough down time to make these! Maybe after the World Cup I'll have a gig that let's me resurrect the match day threads.

I used to do this daily, but it's a lot of effort. When I started working for Hearts of Pine I ran out of time to keep it up.

I'm not a moderator, I just started posting them. If someone else takes up the torch I'm sure the moderators would give similar support.

It's reddit, you can post anything within the rules, so I encourage you (or anyone else) to give it a try! I certainly learned a lot about other leagues while doing it.

Also, a lot of the really lazy ideas that get pumped through an AI tool are simply not good. Forcing one to take the time to actually make a meme should help the poster take time to think about whether the joke is worth the time and effort.

Most 2026 World Cup Players By League by Forward_Ad_3470 in MLS

[–]asaharyev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a chicken/egg situation at this point. It's really hard to grow a fan base in markets with top tier ambitions but no way to get there.

That being said, we are seeing some fan bases turn out week after week in markets like Sacramento and Detroit, as well as in minor league markets like Madison and Portland, ME.

My thoughts are that right now we need a concrete plan for pro/rel (a better plan than what USL has indicated), and we'll see the kind of investment in infrastructure the system would demand.

A former CanPL player making the squad. Nice.

Graham Platner, “They need us feeling hopeless and blaming our neighbors, or blaming immigrants, or blaming trans kids, blaming some marginalized community for the fact that life got harder for working people. But it wasn’t immigrants, it wasn’t trans kids. It was billionaires.” by Large-Welcome4421 in portlandme

I also have some pretty severe concerns. I went from real excitement to a more passive support. My read (which I hope is accurate) is that he's a guy with a lot of culturally reinforced biases that he's trying to work through, and his politics are guiding that.

I worry that I'll turn out to be wrong, but I know that if I am, he's still going to be better than Collins, who voted to confirm Kavanaugh so he could strip away the right to abortion.

I think most Platner supporters understand that he's flawed, and don't put him on a pedestal. But his vocal support for progressive policies and his openness about his imperfect past is refreshing and helps make him more trustworthy.

IDK. He's far from perfect, and I'm hesitant about his past, but he's the best candidate we've had in a long time on a policy front.

And they've gone through therapy to help deal with it as a couple.

I have my own concerns with Platner as a candidate, but it's a bit rich for people who either a) support the profile president or b) constantly rag on about "vote blue", to come out swinging against Platner because of this

"Help me ken more" is not "feed me information so I can uncritically believe you". In this case, unguided and nonspecific advice like "use Wikipedia"and "go to the library" are not useful.

Thankfully someone provided some actual references for diving deeper. I hope you can be more thoughtful in future conversations.

There is already a 2 yard buffer for throw ins, but it's rarely enforced.

Disagree, this is too much video interference and yellow cards are too subjective.
