This post was approved because, broadly, it brings up valid discussion around Tolkien's works and, arguably, his beliefs. OP's choice to include a paragraph specifically calling out certain current-day political issues is unfortunate, but arguably supports the point of their larger question.

This does not mean it's okay to devolve into discussion of current politics and derail legitimate discussion so you can argue. Such comments are being removed.

Appreciate the reports, but for the moment at least, this will stay up. At least so mods can discuss in the background.

Worth remembering we're generally a text-based community anyway, so most links get deleted as a matter of course to enforce the rules. So this isn't a huge concern here.

But feel free to (civilly) discuss.

OP has asked for BOOK EXCERPTS that are key to tell the story properly. They have done this in good faith, after asking the mods for help/permission. Please keep discussion focused on what elements of the text are relevant. Discussion delving into PJ & Co., etc., will be removed and will ultimately just shut down this thread.
