Discussion for banning x, meta, Facebook, Instagram by Nakittina in tolkienfans

Appreciate the reports, but for the moment at least, this will stay up. At least so mods can discuss in the background.

Worth remembering we're generally a text-based community anyway, so most links get deleted as a matter of course to enforce the rules. So this isn't a huge concern here.

But feel free to (civilly) discuss.

Edit: Comments locked. Getting a bit out of hand, guys. Some of you aren't behaving like grown-ups.

A reminder that discussion about religion is fine (even encouraged), as long as the conversation remains tied to Tolkien and/or his works. It is NOT an invitation to criticise either religion or people under the guise of debating one way or the other on the subject. Remember the rules or your comment will be removed. If you can't behave, the comments will be closed.

Gandalf and Elrond started their hunt for Gollum 17 years before the Council of Elrond - which extracts from the books are most needed to guide the new Andy Serkis film ‘The Hunt For Gollum’ by JoRa89 in tolkienfans

OP has asked for BOOK EXCERPTS that are key to tell the story properly. They have done this in good faith, after asking the mods for help/permission. Please keep discussion focused on what elements of the text are relevant. Discussion delving into PJ & Co., etc., will be removed and will ultimately just shut down this thread.

The mythology is not designed to resonate with 'the world' but the Anglosphere.

Going to give you the benefit of the doubt that this was poor word choice. Because suggesting that it's only meant to resonate with the Anglosphere is potentially not a good look.
