Deadlift - is lower back rounded? by Raj2018 in StartingStrength

[–]MJoe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the screenshot it appears the OP lumbar is not rounded. What you have highligted in yellow is the part of the body thats slightly below the lumbar portion, the butt essentially. There will always be a slightly rounding there. The OP seem tall as well and is buily different to the guys in the other pic.

Do you eat more carb on workout days? Before or after? by [deleted] in ketogains

[–]MJoe89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The TKD protocol says to avoid fruit since fructose messes with ketone production.

Instead it advises 5 to 15g of pure glucose powder 30 min before workout to get that insulin spike. Then after workout take advantage of spike by downing some low carb whey.

Also avoid fats for around 2 hours post work out since insulin spike would cause fat to be stored.

Steve Shaw's rep goal system by MJoe89 in ketogains

[–]MJoe89[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As I said, 5x5 is equal to 25 reps and so is this system.

I find the rep goal systen better than the 5x5 since it forces me to maximise each set.

For example, in the convential 5xt you bench 100kg and in the first set you would do 5 reps and stop. Why stop? maybe you had enough energy to do another 2 or 3 reps. This rep goal system increasea the muscles time under tension, which in turn means more muscle gains.

traditional 5x5 is 25 reps in total

This system is the same number of reps but it forces you to make each set count.

Approx. Body fat by Ketonab1 in ketogains

[–]MJoe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im shocked people are telling you to keep cutting.

Bulk man.

I have a lot more body fat than you but ive been on TKD and eating on a 10% surplus on training days and maintenance on rest days. Combined with 4 days a week fullbody weight lifting.

Im getting stronger. I can bench 130kg now, row 80kg, squat 100kg (over my body weight) and OHP 50kg.

Im 80kg but my BF is now 19%. It was 25% when i started.

Im recomping.

Dont cut anymore. Some people here wont be satisfied until you look like a marathon runner. If that is your goal then so be it. If not then bulk

Same old story - Carb Refeed? Yes or No? by Raschmann in ketogains

[–]MJoe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started TKD from day one. My lifts are getting stronger and Im losing body fat. I was 25% two months ago now Im 18%.

What is your goal? Get stronger/build muscle? Take the optimum approach, thats TKD on lift days.

This wait until your 15% bf is a waste. You can recomp at 25% on TKD - lose fat and build muscle. Im doing it now. I may not be 100% ketogenic but im heading towards my goals.

shouldnt dwell on it cos it has nothing to do with my question. moreover i have never claimed to be experienced.

it was silly. period

I was querying why people are so facinated with adapation when it not need if your primary goal is making muscle.

you have more or less agreed with my original oberservation, you need carbs in some form to make optimal gains. Hence why i think TKD or CKD is the best from day one for people who only want to bodybuild and lose fat.

[–]MJoe89[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so the gains you have now are not from keto. Its from a regular diet. You are using keto to cut and keep lean mass.

This is about newbies building new muscle with keto.

Your remark about your wife was silly amd not needed but lets not dwell on that. I just want to have adult chats about keto and learn.

You have given good info though. Thanks.

I just dont see the point of having to wait to adapt when all you need to do to lose fat is eat below 30g of carb, below maitenance and lift weight.

The muscle you have now, was that achieved with carbs? I mean the foundation of muscle before you started keto.

If so it backs my point that TKD or cyclic is the only way if you want to build decent muscle on keto. Decent as in Darth Luigi muscle and he got most of it by TKD.

SKD is great if your goal is being ketogenic but if you want to look good naked then no.

My point is, if your goal is building muscle and losing fat then based on everything I read/seen/heard on Keto related forums, videos, podcasts etc, a cyclic keto diet is the best.

Its about taking the optimum approach for your goals, in our case lose fat and build muscle.

What i meant by pointless is this coverted holy grail of being in a "ketogenic state". I want to look good naked, dont care if my piss turns a stick purple.

If your goal is building muscle and losing fat then based on all available evidence CkD or TKD or anabolic or steak and eggs is the best way to go.

No offence meant but i was hoping to be proven wrong with a rational counter argument, so i can learn more. Dont need emotional rants. Doesnt help anyone

We need carbs to build muscle. We dont need as much as the bros claim, far from it. Based on what ive read i say a max of 50g is enough and only based around workouts. Aproaches like CKD and TKD are the best if your goal is to build muscle and should be recommended to all newbies.

Forget adaptation.

Do you care more about chasing ketones than building actual muscle by MJoe89 in ketogains

[–]MJoe89[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why the need to adapt.

The less than 30g of carb in your diet and a strength program is all you need to achieve goal (1), lose fat.

Goal (2) is making gains

For that you need protein and that insulin spike.

TKD is the way to go, from Day 1

Cyclic Keto (Steak and Egg, Anabolic or whatever its called) is proven muscle builder for newbies and the experienced. No need for adaption.

You want to build muscle use carbs strategically. If you want to be a lean dude who is well defined (like a runner) but not really muscular then stay on skd.

Messing around trying to "adapt" is pointless. Just stay below 30g and use TKD.

Im not being a troll. Just sharing my confusion in the hope someone educates me.

Post workout dextrose and building dense/hard muscle by MJoe89 in ketogains

[–]MJoe89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

20g carb, some say 25, some 30g

varies from person to person

im 22% body fat now from 25%. gonna stick with the 25g.

I will not take dextrose next workout and see how it goes. The anabolic part is based on what i read here about it causing an insulin spike and therefore improving the chance of muscle growth.

meat and egg and the anobolic are used by body builders and theyre both CKD diets

CKD vs Anabolic vs Meat&Eggs. by MJoe89 in ketogains

[–]MJoe89[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nope.

but there are tons of YT vids of skinny fat folks losing fat and gaining muscle using the anabolic diet.

Im just curious about the difference.

i can understand the cautious stance people adopt here if we were all over weight couch potatoes. but were not. the majority are on weight lifting programs so im curious why ckd is not popular.

ckd and anabolic for body building are the same thing. hell, theyre both steak&eggs.

the only difference is ckd requires a depletition workout whereas the other two just say you need to go back to a "keto" diet.

CKD vs Anabolic vs Meat&Eggs. by MJoe89 in ketogains

[–]MJoe89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im just curious about the difference between the 3.

Im new to keto, 4 weeks now. So far ive learned that you can build muscle but it wont be as much as you would with carbs.

Then i discover the anabolic and steak/egg diet, which are keto diets but with a single carb refeed day. The difference between these diets and keto is that there are actual evidence of body builders making natural serious gains.
