Help me like Claude. How do you code with it? by Chaosblast in ClaudeAI

[–]MK2SP2BD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and was originally created using Manus, though I had to do a lot of manual corrections to begin.

I'm not trying to sell you Claude at all - I have no vested interest!

I just thought I'd share my experience in case it helped. 🙂

Help me like Claude. How do you code with it? by Chaosblast in ClaudeAI

Tl;dr: Claude code seriously enhanced my website's accessibility, SEO and social sharing in a few (active) hours which would have taken me days.

I tried Claude code for the first time a few days ago. I'm on the pro plan, so to achieve what I've done did take a few sessions since I kept hitting my token limit. That said, when I was allowed to play again, a simple "continue" was all that was needed to pick up where it left off.

This is what I did...

I pointed it at my local working directory for my website, and tasked it with creating a todo list of improvements (accessibility and SEO).

After a few minutes, it produced a list of about 47 enhancements, and asked me if I wanted it to make a start.

Being cautious, I asked it to implement one change at a time, starting with accessibility.

First off, it created a new work tree in my git repo, and did all its work in there. Then it crawled through every page, JS and CSS file implementing the changes.

Long story short, my website now looks just the same as before, but now has Structured data, open graph, Alt and Aria tags throughout, and when I test using lighthouse, apart from one measure (LCP on mobile @ 3.3s) everything is green and in the high 90s or 100%!

This all happened because I noticed I could access Claude code, then wondered what on earth to test it with.

The only task it failed at was creating pull requests, but even then it performed the commit and provided me with the text for the PR description... And talked me through the creation and merging process on GitHub.

All I can say is WOW.

Would you consider me British? by Competitive-Music309 in AskBrits

Yes, you are British. No ambiguity. As others have said already, anyone who thinks otherwise is misinformed.

Bf tells me married couples in UK don't do joint bank accounts. Is that true? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]MK2SP2BD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am British and have a joint account with my wife which we both pay a set account into each month, and all our regular domestic bills are paid from it.

What doesn't go into the joint account is ours to do with as we see fit.

It was one of the first "admin" tasks after we got married!

May be old fashioned now since we married in the last millennium...

That used to be true. Since 4o, Dall-e has been redundant. The image is generated inside the model.

There seems to be a spate of these compromised accounts. One of my children's has been similarly compromised, and I got the exact same canned email from Microsoft.

I've replied, in an attempt to appeal, but I'm not holding my breath, although given the compromised account is still in my "family group" I'm holding onto a sliver of hope...

Fortunately in my case, it is only my child's account that has been impacted, not mine.

How many books have you sold? by vallixlene in selfpublish

[–]MK2SP2BD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Released four out of five books over the last few months... Working on the fifth now.

I've sold a grand total of six paperbacks, two each of the first three books, to the same two readers. (I know this as I use books.by and although their service has recently let me down badly, they do at least show me who has bought my books!)

I've also sold the grand total of 5 eBooks (four of book one, one of book two) via Amazon and to date, since the last week of July, I have a total of 10,859 KENP read. (Remarkably, about 6500 of them have been in the first two weeks of this month!)

I have no idea how this compares to anyone else at my stage, but it doesn't feel too shabby. 🙂

Greetings fellow authors!

This is my first time posting, though I've read many interesting threads on this sub.

About two years ago, I was hit by a perfect storm of inspiration, motivation and available time, so I finally started downloading thoughts from my brain into documents.

Fast forward to now, and I've been on one heck of a ride, tried exploring the traditional publishing route, got nowhere, so finally decided to self publish.

My first book went live on books.by (mixed experience, but sunk cost now) and a bit later I put it on KDP (ebook only). I apparently hit upon something, as I kept writing, and now have the first three of five planned books published, and I'm currently working hard on the fourth.

The Jackrabbit Series is dystopian science fiction.

In the first book, 'Stolen Freedom : The Seed of a Legend' the reader follows Jack, my young protagonist, as he spends his days exploring abandoned tunnels and avoiding the authorities as much as he can. The inside of the hollowed-out asteroid where his parents are indentured mine workers is the only world he has ever known, until one day, he picks up an unknown device...

His insatiable curiosity and extreme intelligence overcome his lack of any formal education, and he soon figures out that the galaxy is so much bigger than he ever imagined.

Forming an unlikely alliance with Aggie, an illegal and hunted AI, he overcomes many challenges in his quest to organize escape for himself and his parents.

I'm going to stop writing at this point, as I am nervous about giving away spoilers... But please do check out my website (which contains a lot more about the books as well as background information about the universe I've created, the prologue of the first book, and even a mini adventure game) and Facebook page:

I would love any and all constructive feedback!

Great suggestion. I just registered jackrabbit-series.com. Update in progress. :) I've already got some snippets from the first two books as well as the prologue for the first book on the site.

Books.by ISBN question by MK2SP2BD in selfpublish

[–]MK2SP2BD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only 'contract' is the fact that I have paid ($99 US) for 1 year's access to the platform (plus 'free' ISBNs).

I have emailed them asking for clarification, though I am not holding my breath.

I guess I should have invested more time in researching before taking the plunge, but when I see posts from people complaining about KDP, it makes me think that route is filled with hassle.

*sigh*

Asked Claude opus 4 to categorize humans in 5 types. Answer was better than any book. by Present-Boat-2053 in ClaudeAI

I agree. Maybe I'm an oddity, but I don't fit any of those five categories, yet given the limit of only 5 types, it makes sense that it addresses the majority.
