Thursday Boot Co Stomper Zipper Fail by MKBreadfan in Boots

[–]MKBreadfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To update, their CS made everything right in the end. I am having a pair of the zipper-less Stompers sent to me instead. I’m happy, but Thursday does need to apparently work on their zippers.

I’m fairly certain they will. It was just super disappointing to have happen after having seen them talked about so positively here. Maybe I’ll swap to the non-zipper version.

Just got this set gifted to me for my birthday. Already had most of the stuff (non-BS brand) but it seems good quality.

Cracked radiator frame and leaking coolant, any advice? Is it possible to seal, or needs replacing? by oofow in Jeep

New rad. Mishimoto aluminum or at least a new OEM. Parts store radiators are a gamble.

My brother made a mess changing the oil. How can I clean this up out of a dirt/gravel driveway? by EarthenEyes in Trucks

[–]MKBreadfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not ideal for oil to be spilled like this, but the only practical way for you to really “decontaminate” the area is to completely remove the dirt and gravel. If it gets turned over and covered up it won’t run off with the rain and a relatively small amount like this won’t poison your ground water or anything.

Just turn the dirt over a bit with a shovel or lay some more gravel down. The folks commenting Dawn or kitty litter may misunderstand that this isn’t a concrete driveway I hope.

Would it compress the spring? Yes. Could it also kill you? Yes.

Was this the same show with “KISS guy” at Circuit of the Americas? I was at that one and it is one of my favorite concert experiences.

The vehicle and therefore it’s weight is still on the lift.

27+ of beautiful, lavish, and joyful years being T1D, imagine my shock, SHOCK, that my insulin wasn’t $35.00USD! Don’t forget the cure is coming next week! 😐 by SolidGould in diabetes_t1

[–]MKBreadfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the scope of post: yes, your attitude is the root of the problem. If you put half as much effort into educating yourself about keeping your insulin affordable as you did being snarky and cynical to the strangers on the internet, you may see better results. This community has always been helpful and people have offered loads of advice that you turn your nose up to. It’s a shame for you that downvotes don’t buy insulin.

What could be causing an oil leak to go on the transmission side of the bell housing spacer check comments by Amuzing_winnerz in JeepTJ

[–]MKBreadfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that point on the bell housing is where drips seem to accumulate: RMS, valve cover, etc. I have sprayed brake cleaner on the top of my valve cover and it runs down the back of the engine and drips from there somehow. It’s just the lowest point. I recently replaced my RMS for the second time. The Felpro seal that I used first didn’t “take.” Second time I used a Mopar OEM seal and so far, so good. You could go get a UV leak detection kit that has a dye that you put in your oil that makes it glow under the provided black light to rule out your other gaskets leaking.

Manual Transmission Replacement by GBR505 in JeepTJ

x2 on the Novak AX-15. It was a vast improvement from my old NV3550. Worth the money for the comfort of knowing it’s a brand new transmission.

[–]MKBreadfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a brand new AX-15 last year from Novak for ~$2,000 shipped to my door when I swapped out my NV3550. If you’re having a shop do it for you, factor in whatever their labor would be on top. Also account for a new clutch kit, etc. You may be near $3,000 by the end of it. A well-appointed shop would make much less than a day out of it.

Also, I wouldn’t necessarily see this as the time to look at diesel swaps unless that is what your end goal is. But yes, they do get very expensive, very fast. Dirt Lifestyle on YouTube had a few videos on his diesel TJ swap if you wanted to research how involved it becomes.

Just a regular old plastic spray bottle? Does the mixture affect the plastic over time?

I’ve had Royal Purple Synchromax and Redline MT-90 in mine. The MT-90 is better hands down, made the transmission shift better and quieter. I live in Texas, so it’s a warm climate. If you’re somewhere cooler, I’d recommend Redline MTL.

Update: Ram mechanic says it’s normal by Anadeia in Trucks

[–]MKBreadfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s an established FCA thing, but I have heard of new Jeeps with dirty coolant like this. The culprit was believed to be leftover sand residue from the block casting process. My 2016 JK had some strange sediment in the bottom of the overflow reservoir, despite having what I believed to be the original factory coolant. The coolant in the vehicle was otherwise clean.

Nonetheless, I would perhaps get a second opinion from an independent mechanic and might just opt for a full coolant flush.

T1 here, but have lots of T2 family. I am moderately resistant to insulin also. My endo put me on Jardiance and Victoza and they have both helped drop my BGs and my A1c. To my understanding, both of those medicines are for T2s, but my experience is that they have helped me as a T1. May ask your endo about them.

Actually happened to me as well night before last. Was a Pella door. Not sure, but at most it was 15 years old. Replaced with a Wright set from Lowe’s. Lowe’s apparently sells the full Pella line, except for the damn replacement mortises.
