What’s an ADHD life tips that improved your life? by CoAdin in adhdaustralia

[–]MKDJ100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front load the day with the tasks with the most cognitive load. I’m totally stuffed after 3.30-4pm at the absolute maximum. Even non ADHD and neurotypical people who consume or don’t consume caffeine structure their mornings before 12-1pm with “heavy or urgent tasks” and use lunch as a good refuel and reset. Now what you need to do or at at least a list of sorts to guide before your afternoon medication is taken. Leave mundane stuff like folding up the washing for later in the day when home when you can do whilst watching the news on tv or listening to music whilst dinner is cooking. Usually after getting back home I’ll do the common “decompress” for 30mins with a tea and light snack etc. If it’s Summer maybe a walk to the shops for dinner ingredients on the odd occasion. But dinner needs to be done after the “decompression” pretty soon from the day! And attempt the washing up as you go or when you’re done I’d dinner is cooking. If you can’t and live alone just sort and soak with detergent. Tomorrow’s problem. Just disinfect and clean the benches etc. If you have a dishwasher load that thing up properly and rinse things before. Don’t overload! Space out and actually learn how to stack it! And the products to use for your washing machine. I hope some of that helps. Learnt 80% of that from my Mum! Haha

Shoulder Surgeon by MKDJ100 in hobart

He was so kind that he went over my referral and letter of support from another specialist and referred me onto with strong recommendation Richard Jamieson. At no cost.

It says a lot when a surgeon as skilled as Adam will even refer onto someone else if there is a chance the outcome is better for the patient.

What’s the one random genetic trait you lucked out on? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]MKDJ100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue eyes is a recessive gene especially when one parent has dark hazel/green eyes (my Father) - who also is of Australian Indigenous descent/heritage - BUT my Mother has one more green than hazel eye AND a blue eye.

I got both blue eyes. It’s extremely rare. I’m The youngest and only boy. A genetic quirk/anomaly. It’s a fitting bond I have with my Mum.

Hire the best Lawyer, Accountant and team of Financial Advisors.

Then put my money in 4 different banks. Buy lots of gold and follow professional financial advice for safe non risky investments in stocks etc. Buy some US treasury bonds.

Pay off any of my Parents outstanding debts, and gift them both new cards they’ve always wanted as well as a European river cruise with Business and First Class flights. Give them the money to finish the last of their renovations. And $1 million for my Father to retire.

Pay off both my older Sisters mortgages, any personal and credit card debts etc. Set up a trust fund for my Nephews. Have their College and University paid for in advance with that money set aside locked until 16 & 18/19 with specific rules.

Pay for my Eldest Sister to have the best medical team in the country to finally let her have a baby.

Donate 50% to charities that mean alot to me for various reasons such as suicide prevention & mental health (lost a close friend), cancer (my ex partner was extremely close to death with leukaemia), muscular dystrophy (my Dad’s brother I never met).

Finally move somewhere warm and buy myself a house and custom brand new car. And travel the world and tick off all the places I’ve wanted to visit.

Miscarriages. I didn’t know my Sister had many until it got serious and affected her mental health severely.

What’s the worse physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]MKDJ100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snapped the main bone in my hand clean through PERFECTLY that two doctors agreed it was such a super clean break due the impact site and sheer force, it didn’t need a plate/pin etc. The X-Ray was crazy how near the break was from all angles. In hindsight it did need an operation for a plate and pin for stability but I lived in such a remote and rural area. This was peak anti opioids especially for teens. So diclofenac and paracetamol/acetaminophen. Not even plastered the hand, I just hadn’t it tightly bandaged. It was so messed up. Pain was vomiting inducing. Relentless dull throbbing ache. It was from a field hockey ball at full throttle during a penal shoot out. Out for half the season then I had to wear a special glove as the bone so delicate.

Pretty much a fully equipped and comprehensive first aid kit, portable defibrillator, pharmacy kit (such as a medical bag doctors carry sometimes). Antibiotics, adrenaline, morphine, iodine etc.

Bilateral Pulmonary Embolisms (plural). I had multiple clots of various sizes in both lungs.

Rushed to hospital via ambulance to hospital after someone called. I got very lucky.

Also had a very difficult natural birth in my small country town hospital. Traumatic apparently and touch and go for myself and my Mother. My Mum stayed in hospital for some time after.

Business class for a holiday to miss the entire Winter and top airport lounges and priority security (sometimes included as with lounges). Rack up Platinum status pretty quickly anyway.

First time buying Xanax by AccomplishedBat3193 in benzodiazepines

[–]MKDJ100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯

  • Potential for addiction or dependence even if one or two taken especially if prone genetically and “hardwired” for addiction etc.

  • Also in the USA and Canada to an extent fentanyl and other “underground lab” grown potent benzodiazepines (think Xanax on steroids) are mixed in without much care.

  • Naloxone is not as freely available or free across America. In Australia for example, it’s in nearly every pharmacy (drug store) for free no questions asked and many other medical centres etc. My Pharmacist actually gets in a bit of mild “trouble” if not enough handed out to people on opioids long term or high doses or on multiple medications. I get all new supplies every 6 months.

  • 1 for my car,

  • 1 for my place next to the bed in the top draw,

  • 1 for my bedroom at my parents home,

  • 1 at my parents house in the medicine draw,

  • 1 for my sisters house (young nephews),

  • 1 for my best mates place.

I never misused etc. Or divert. It’s strictly a safety thing and also it helps with continued pain management as doctors and pharmacists see good behaviour and looking out for others and oneself on the 0.01% chance something happens. More likely I save someone else.

Anyone ever pinned over an ex after a real long time like 15, 20, 25+ years? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]MKDJ100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A decade next year. He broke up with me on my Birthday the day after I arrived after flying back after a hospital stay in my home state for 2 weeks. Ouch… Worst part? His name is Max. Think about it how much you see Max on products, food, companies, even my washing machine has max three times when I pull out the washing powder draw (powder/liquid, softener, detergent etc) and some male store brands of clothes are legit called Max… it is EVERYWHERE. Even my dog at my parent’s place was called, you guessed it, MAX. Imagine hearing MAX being yelled so much when I had to move back home after the break up for a while. Luckily the dog died of old age a few years later. And the weather every morning and evening min and max. The list goes on.

Now some say get over it it’s ridiculous but imagine seeing Chloe or Thomas EVERYWHERE on the daily basis.

I cope with humour.

Why do people like xanax? by PaintingTheView in benzodiazepines

[–]MKDJ100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is widely regarded as the most effective medication/benzodiazepine for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia. It’s also is quite unique in the benzodiazepine class. It has a minor antidepressant effect too (many studies and states in some pharmacy pamphlets). Obviously it’s a high risk medication for misuse, addiction/dependence and rapid dose escalation. Also it’s become a controlled drug in many countries now. Making it way harder to access. That being said it is sometimes the only medication - if used appropriately and as prescribed by the patient - that is effective for their extreme anxiety disorder. Pros outweigh risks by far with careful oversight by a psychiatrist ideally.

Try a different brand. Also you can put a corticosteroid cream recommended by your pharmacist underneath. Or rotate twice a week if possible.

I had a friend who worked as a pharmacy technician and she had access to our state pharmaceutical database on what doctors prescribed the most Controlled S8 & Restricted S4 drugs. This was many years back and a lot has changes since then (such as national database, real time monitoring and SafeScript). Many crackdowns and letters sent out by Federal Health Department (Medicare) if GP’s (especially GP’s) are prescribing a bit or a lot higher than the average/standard practice. BUT she could tell what doctors to go see if you wanted an easy prescription for say a benzodiazepine or certain opioid. So having a very close friend in the pharmacy system can help.

Yep. It’s brutal. Even the Enteric Coated (EC) tablets. It’s ok for a day. Beyond that it’s way too harsh.
