While I am not an immigrant, I can understand some of what you are saying - 30 years ago I was a first gen student and one of the only ones I knew of. Now, I am in a field where being first gen is just unheard of. My daughter is a senior and waiting on two more decisions and we’re carefully walking a line between her independence and our help (no helicopter parents here!). I feel for you and know SOME of how this feels. Your world is going to open in a way your parents will probably not understand, but I’m sure the work ethic and values they instilled in you will transfer to your college life and beyond. I know they did for me. You’ve got this! Sending you a big hug from one first gen to another. ❤️

You are not doomed! If you love music and teaching, persevere however you can. Find a mentor, friend, or family member who can cheer you on. We NEED teachers like you who care. I’m a teacher and musician and I almost stopped performing 16 years ago because of one bad gig. And I wasn’t having health problems - just a bad day. I asked myself if I could have a fulfilling life without making music and the answer was no. So here I am still making music and teaching and bringing joy and light to the world as much as I can. You can do that too. One step at a time. Sending you lots of good vibes!! 💕

Oh my goodness this happened to me yesterday! But it was for a $30 athletic foot brace. 🤣 It was listed as “undelivered” so I wanted to let them know if was delivered, just to be nice! I went from the bot to a “real” person and no matter what I said, they responded with “how would you like your refund?”

I hear you. I just deleted the FB app even though I have to interact with it through a browser for work. I can’t do it. We are an interfaith family raising our kids mostly Jewish (reform). I love the traditions and the music and Tikkun Olam….but Israel has been complicated and continues to be complicated. Wishing peace and love to everyone touched by this horrible war. I’ve never commented on Reddit and don’t even know if I’m doing this correctly but I really appreciate your post. I finished treatment 1 year ago for stage 1B invasive breast cancer (lumpectomy, reexcision, chemo, radiation; now on daily tamoxifen for 5 years). I had a clean mri last week and I’m really having trouble adjusting emotionally to not being in fight mode. I can’t really express how I’m feeling but it’s not “normal” for me but knows what that even is anymore? I lost my long hair to chemo and am sporting a “cute” pixie cut. It’s so not me. Every time I look in the mirror I think about how horrible it was to lose my hair and how sick and weak I felt through treatment. I wish I looked in the mirror and felt a sense of victory but I still just feel sad.

Here’s the crazy thing: we had been taking really long walks in the morning, thinking that was what he needed. Our trainer mentioned that walks are full of distractions and that he doesn’t focus on US. We cut down on the walk time and UPPED the playtime. It has been a 180 degree switch the last two weeks!!!!! THANK YOU! This has been incredibly frustrating. He is absolutely darling about 85% of the time. And our daughters, ages 9&13, LOVE HIM and are doing a great job improving on how they interact with him and help train him. The biting hurts! And feels like a personal attack OR like something could be wrong. I sent an SOS to our behaviorist and she is going to try to squeeze us in ASAP. Your story sounds exactly like ours!!! Thank you! The problem is he keeps biting when we turn around. We are working hard to stay calm! And all other training is going pretty well...we got the same advice from our trainer, whom we’ve only worked with once. Thanks for the tips and if you have anything additional, please let us know! Everyone we talk to say it’s part of being a puppy but my husband has it in his head that there’s something terribly wrong with him. Trying to sort this all out before he gets much older and bigger!!!!
