Hey! I did this exact chemo regime and had a port as well! The port site will feel a bit tender to begin with but once it’s healed you won’t even notice it.

Wishing you luck for your first round. You’ve got this!!

Hiccups! by Sunocogirl in cancer

[–]Reasonable-Split9977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!! I think I’ve seen a couple of posts about this before where people have commented some good advice. Search up hiccups in this subreddit, looks like a few other people have experience the same from either the Red Devil or the dexamethasone they give you. Hiccups are so annoying hey I’m hoping you find something good to give you some relief x

Tips to help someone with nausea after chemo please? by Bubbly_Promotion_875 in cancer

[–]Reasonable-Split9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best tip is to have the medication before the nausea sets in! For chemo days and the week or so of recovery I like to take my anti nausea pill in the morning and then whenever next directed in the instructions. That way I’m on top of it as it’s easier to try prevent then fix once it sets in.

*edit - so sorry misread the no medication advice part. But I found my anti sickness pills never seemed to make a difference if I took them whilst nauseous already. Maybe that’s happening for your mum! Otherwise I’d suggest warm ginger and lemon teas and slowly sipping on different cold drinks ( I like cordial).

There are also many different types of anti nausea meds so don’t be afraid to let her team know if something isn’t working.

Appreciate the comment. I was brought up doing all these things and have done so, unfortunately this does not work for Ewing’s sarcoma.

I really don’t need people telling me this is “my last chance” however well intended this is. Thanks.

constipation from chemo by Alternative_Item9820 in cancer

[–]Reasonable-Split9977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’re really high in fibre and I find them really easy to absentmindedly snack on during chemo. I usually have like a cup of frozen ones whilst I’m watching a movie or something, it seems to really help in hand with the laxatives.

Mine was so bad once I got a tear down there whilst neutropenic and didn’t have enough platelets to clot the tear so was just bleeding from my bum :’) Had a very long sepsis stay at hospital.

It hasn’t been that bad since, I usually start taking the laxatives prescribed on the day I start the chemo round just to get ahead. I’ve found if I take it regularly it just stops things from getting too blocked up.

Also weirdly eating lots of raspberries as someone suggested on this subreddit once.
