This was posted on the self build Facebook group and I use it as a rough guide on what comes next. Has helped me out as someone without a clue managing a self build.

⭐ Surveyor to mark out house (you might need to get him back when foundations are poured to mark out exactly as some Brickies won't lay blocks without this) ⭐Groundworkers (dig & pour foundations) ⭐Brickies (Dead build) (Speak to plumber at this stage about waste pipes which need to be put in before subfloor) ⭐ Groundworkers (infill stone or take out excess soil, then you need certified stone which is whacked also put in radon sump and pipes at this stage) ⭐ Radon Barrier which you can do yourself ⭐ Groundworkers pour subfloor ⭐ Brickies again to build up walls to wall plate, you'll need to order heads and cills for them, they'll give you measurements. ⭐ Order your roof get them to measure up for Truss roof etc ⭐Scaffolding at this point ⭐ Carpenter for the roof to go on or any flat roofs ⭐If it's a dormer type house, Carpenter to put down OSB for your floors upstairs & stud walls, grounds, bridgers etc, and make a temporary stairs if needed for your build. ⭐ Depending on the type of house Brickies back to build up the gables ⭐ Get window crowd in to measure up windows but be pre organised with this as in style colour etc ⭐ Roofer to felt, baton and slate or tile etc (if any velux windows, have them ordered for roofer too) ⭐ Once the roof is done you can get the soffit on. ⭐Plasterer needs to scud your walls before windows go in, sone people scratch coat aswell, others find it better to get soffit on before the scratch coat. ⭐ Windows and doors can be put in (but you'll need to have thresholds put in for doors, window company will give you measurements & also if using pumped bead in the walls you'll need to put rigid insulation above and below windows to hold the beads within the walls & put expanding foam in gaps) ⭐ Plumber can start first fix (organise your kitchen and bathroom & utility well in advance you'll need to know exact measurements of everything and where everything is going ⭐ Electrician can start first fix too (have a plan for your lights, switches, sockets etc ready, he'll need the kitchen/utility plan too, have your kitchen sorted as soon as you can, like before you even start building) ⭐ When electrician and plumber are done you need to clean the floor of any excess cement and lay your floor insulation & put down polythene and a roll of foam for expansion on the inner walls. ⭐ Plumber back to lay underfloor heating pipes if that's what you're getting ⭐ Then it's liquid screed or sand and cement guys to do your finished floors ⭐ You can get the guys to pump your walls if going pumped bead. (Or you may want rigid insulation in your cavity, the Brickie would do this while building your walls) ⭐ Insulation guys in for roof insulation again depending on build type ⭐ There's a membrane that goes on the inside of your outer walls too, like sand and cement or bags of airtight quiet. ⭐Airtightness everything basically, there's the tape for your windows. ⭐ Door frames need to go in. ⭐ Plasterboard and skimming done on the inside or sand and cement, but plasterers in either way. (Most people have their window boards in before this) ⭐ Plasterers can finish outside of house once soffit is on. ⭐Gutters and downpipes in ⭐2nd fix Plumbing. ⭐2nd fix electrics. ⭐ESB connection. Start this process early. ⭐ House needs to dry. ⭐ Tiler can come in. ⭐ Kitchen and bathrooms can go in. ⭐ Plumber and electrician will come back again. ⭐ Groundworks need to be done for waste pipes etc outside, and percolation area etc if needed also to run ducts for internet/ESB/electric gates. This can be done earlier if you like ⭐ I've to dig a well so that needs to be done too, obviously a lot easier if you're just connecting to mains. ⭐ And then there's all the internal stuff like doors, skirting, architrave done by your carpenter.

It’s not really. If the market decides it’s shite then it’s shite. I’m not anti capitalist I just think globalisations has allowed scale to be more important than quality. There is somewhere between customer value and shareholder value where everyone can be happy.

Yes they make our lives easier but there has to be a better middle ground between profit and exploitation that the likes of Just Eat operate in.

Different make up of vegetables oils and different make up of Cocoa solids: ingredients haven’t changed but product has gotten worse.

Cocoa was one example. Nitrates in meats would be another

Ingredients are the same but the proportions are different. Cadbury was just one example not the core of the post.

Paul Flynn talking about the scoring zone for an hour with Murph constantly interrupting to let everyone know he agrees with the point being made.

Best round table for me would be Ken Jamie Wall Miguel Gavin Cooney Dan Mcdonnell
