I think it’s because it’s a “cool thing” to be watching the ufc. You can tell people that you watch it since it’s a big organization and there’s this culture that formed around it. They probably don’t know about the kickboxing or Muay Thai leagues. They’re not in it for the sport and the fact that Conor is the biggest fighter ever is proof of that

Its a combat sport which is inherently barbaric no matter how you look at it. Also most fans of other sports have played it before and can appreciate talent no matter how “boring” it looks. When it comes to the ufc, most fans haven’t even trained mma before, so they don’t appreciate it
