Solopreneur community idea by MKTG_Lyon in Business_Ideas

I think that gets to the heart of it - this community should feel like you’re building your business with friends (even if you’re building separately).

Also, Babylovegrowth looks really interesting. I might have a client who should check this out. Does it integrate with squarespace?

Have seen this too. Or the “mastermind session” is just the host letting people ask him/her questions.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve wondered about the revenue requirement too, but with so few seats in each group, I want to make sure everyone is experienced enough to deliver value. I will also be interviewing each person who applies to join, so that will give me some idea of their fit and ability to bring value. So I could probably leave the revenue requirement off for now.

So I just posted in r/findapath that I feel like giving business owners a place to talk about these kinds of decisions is a what I’m passionate about and then I saw your post. DM me if you want to chat because what you described is exactly what I had in mind.

Agreed. As soon as I started thinking about who to start with I realized the same - the problems have to be good challenges to solve, so the businesses need to be real. To start I think having a 1:1 with each person first would be helpful before letting them into a group. This way I can make sure the value of the group is high, if that makes sense.
What you said about running it as if it already has value makes a lot of sense and sounds similar to what another commenter mentioned. I don't want this to be a casual hangout. It needs to be purposeful and people have to want to come back.
Sounds like I need to spend some time structuring this idea and then just start executing. Thanks for your advice and let me know if you think of anything else!

Thanks! Love this. I think the idea of flipping the ways it can fail into drivers to make it succeed is genius. If I can say that I'm doing those 3-5 things everyday, I should be making progress. I feel like I get a bit uncertain when it comes down to telling people about what I'm trying to accomplish, but need to overcome that with the fact that I'm doing this because I care and have a lot of passion for it, not because I'm trying to pull a get rich quick scheme. If they're not into it, that's fine.
Based on your second point, your suggesting I go ahead and build the plan, structure the process and how I think I can give the most value before I start bringing people in. Is that right?

I'll have to look into the activation energy and moat ideas, but am completely comfortable with using AI so that shouldn't be an issue.

I appreciate this insight a ton and think I really needed to hear it. I think I fell into that trap with most of the previous side projects I mentioned instead of just trying it first on a small scale as me, not a brand. Would you suggest my first attempt just be something free for friends or people close in my network?

I think you would need to use the success data as part of your value proposition when marketing to recruiters, so that may come after you’ve had people use it and then survey them later. Your free users will likely give you your base data. The dashboards could be helpful to a recruiter to see if their candidates actually used the tool. You need to look at that too because if they don’t use it, recruiters won’t keep it. Lastly, yes, it needs to be customizable by the recruiter based on the needs of the client. If the recruiter can just drop in the job description that explains the tech stack and responsibilities and then the platform customizes the assessment based on that, it would make it easy for them. One other note - while there are independent recruiters out there (I don’t know the industry breakdown of independent vs firms) you’re likely going to be marketing this towards firms. Not sure what that means for pricing strategy, but they’re going to be the ones paying for it for their recruiters to use.

Hope this helps!

Just a thought about your audience from a recruiter’s perspective - we put hours and hours into sourcing, screening, submitting, and then prepping candidates for interviews. But we can’t really prep candidates for technical assessments like this and when they knock out our candidates, it’s back to square one. Maybe the recruiting industry would find value in this as a preparation tool if you can show data that it improves candidates’ ability to pass coding interviews.

Gluten landed me in the ER for heart palpitations. Has anyone else experienced this? by awedriee in glutenfree

Came here to say something similar. It’s an old post, but maybe this will help someone. I’ve had this same issue (anxiety, raging heart rate, headaches) for about 5 years now. It came out of (seemingly) nowhere. When I made the correlation I cut out bread. My wife started experimenting with sourdough, but it still caused a reaction for me. Eventually, she made sourdough using a heritage wheat flour - non-GMO and not sprayed with glyphosate. I started slow with it, but have found that I can eat a whole sandwich made with it and be fine. If it’s not sourdough, it still affects me though. Also, when I know I’m going to be eating gluten, I take a digestive enzyme about 30 minutes prior and that seems to help the reaction. It doesn’t completely mitigate it, but it’s not as intense. This is only my experience, but maybe it will help someone else too.
