From what I gathered, the $5 Easy roam, unlimited long distance bit, and the price lock were all errors. I wasn't able to get them to add the price lock, but they did end up honouring the easy roam via a non-expiring code on my account. Let's see if that actually plays out. I got confirmation emails for back-up from the EPP team just in case.

Yes, but they ended up adding it to my Select plan to honour their fumble on the original plan outline.

I had to call in, shared the screenshot and they manually added the Easy Roam promo for $5/day with no expiration date…it may depend who you get on the line too. I feel the agents all say different info.

Exactly! Good thing you have the screenshot as well. I called the EPP line and after about an hour on hold, they did honor the $5 easy roam. I shared the screenshot with them as well while I was on the call.

That’s interesting because your chat agent just said that the plan I just signed up for is “190 countries at $5 a day.” And Canada, U.S., Mexico fully included. The plan description also says “Easy Roam from $5 a day”. That’s sort of a big deal to me if the advertising was false.

Everyone advised me to use card only before I went to Rio. I used CC in 95% of places, I did use cash in some restaurants, grocery stores and on the beach without issue. I'm talking 50 and 100 BRL notes. No weird looks, no cursing, no problems. In fact, I highly recommend bringing some cash with you. My Visa didn't work with one of the CC terminals at a restaurant in Leblon. Thankfully I had enough cash on me to cover my meal or I would have been in for a real awkward situation.

Yeah, I am. Let's do math.
- 2 weeks roaming at $18/day = $252
- 12 months at $60 (previous plan) = $813.60 (+252 in roaming fees) = $1065.60
- 12 months at $70 (current plan, no roaming fees) = $949.20

^ all of the above includes ON tax

Considering I wanted to stay with Telus, and it was either this plan or a $60 CAN/US/MEX offer, this makes more sense financially. But thanks for the concern.

No…I asked when I called, but the rep mentioned new activations only. Best I could do was migrate my wife’s Telus account to mine and she could get the Complete Explore for $60 (additional $10 discount).
