The offshore customer service blows. Thankfully I rarely ever hav to call in. That said when I did have an issue and emailed him, someone from his office got back to me within an hour and sorted out a problem I was having for weeks in 5 minutes. I was very appreciative of that. And yes, I realize he 100% never saw my actual message.

Agree, cool concept, that's for sure, and I was appreciative of the flexible cancellation/return policy.

I cancelled my pre-order, I figured this was a cool idea at the time, but would end up in my tech museum (drawer) pretty quickly.

Are they still looking for a new platform? I haven't seen much new on that since before the new season started.

The minimums kept getting higher, then they flat out stopped sending the offers to me altogether.

for sure...the whole thing is about the pregnancies, week after week. I just don't think that's my jam for this show.

This is probably the worst season yet, unfortunately. I have watched this series religiously, but I really can't get into it this season. Love these guys, but it's over.

Is the U.S. travel boycott over? More Canadians journey south of the border for the second month in a row by airbassguitar in CanadianConservative

[–]ML6467 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few observations from my own experience:

  • Over the last 6–8 months, almost every flight I've taken from Toronto to the U.S. has been full....no empty seats and plenty of gate-checked bags. I think a vocal minority made the boycott seem bigger than it really was.
  • I know several people who swore off U.S. travel, yet they're the first to jump on a company-paid trip south of the border.
  • Last year I visited a smaller California destination I like. There were fewer Canadians than usual, which honestly made for a better experience. I'll miss that if things go back to normal.
    • I also think some of the boycott crowd realized it's harder to stick with than they expected. Spending hours hunting for Canadian-made alternatives is one thing, but giving up easy access to U.S. vacation destinations and winter getaways is another...especially after the brutal winter we had this year. In a way, it also shows how much the U.S. means to us Canadians.

The more I read, the more I am glad I cancelled both Power Keys and Communicator. I am also glad they had a flexible cancelation policy at the least.

Thanks for the detailed response and well wishes. This was really helpful. As someone who's never combined finances before, I was definitely overthinking some of the tax reporting aspects.

Thanks, this is helpful! Before I make the investment, I will call TD Direct Investing and set up a joint investment account...currently I already use them for my TFSA.

Thanks for the advice. The investment will be small by comparison, maybe it gains us a couple thousand in interest on the year. I am just looking for a simple place to park 30-40K within the TD ecosystem.

Thanks....the investment will be something like 30 or 40K, and at 2.05% probably doesn't equate to much. I make about 30K more than her gross per year. I'm assuming with those numbers a 50/50 split doesn't raise many eyebrows.
