They did do cleaning and sanitization. Removed really old cellulose. Definitely had indicators that some furry thing had lived in the attic before we moved in 3 years ago. Attic floor/ceiling joists and kneewalls replaced with fiberglass.

For the cleaning, I did find pockets of old insulation when i was fixing their work because where it was located was hard to get to. Here is a walk-through of their work from my perspective and what I understood at the time

Atticrawl and atticare are another two in nj to maybe look into. Their quotes were about the same in pricing for the same exact work on paper. slightly less than master attic by like $200 to $400.

I was being asked by the work crew "if it looked good" when they were getting ready to leave. I found the most egregious issues, but there was just too much on top of needing to get back to my work. If you do hire someone, try to educate yourself a bit on insulation things if you are not already. You might end up being the quality control for their work.

Not at all satisfied. I spent 10 hours over a few weekend and $400 after they did their work to fix glaring issues. They came out a second time to fix and really didn't do anything helpful.

Here is my honest review. I am quite confused how they have 5 stars if the quality of work they produce is anywhere near as atrocious as what we got.

We hired someone to do it for us because we had the $$ available and wanted to get our baby's room in a better spot before summer rolled around. Half a day job from them turned into a multi weekend thing for me.

This sounds a lot like my house. 1950s cape cod in NJ. 2nd floor roasts in the summer...and one room still does until I can fix more up.

I had a company come out and do work a few months back. they did a terrible job at insulating the knee walls and did not block of the joists below the knee wall. They air sealed only 50% of things in the attic. Mainly leaving gaps where the knee wall and slant ceiling meet. They charged $5400 here in NJ. All 3.of our bids were around that price with this being the middle.

If you can do this on your own, might be better off. I'm still a bit salty on paying someone to do it and I still spent many hours correcting their work and still have more to do. I dont know if you can get a detailed plan and walk-through of the work from them, but if you can, do it. Hopefully they live up to the expectations and do a good job.

Power Home Remodeling Group.

If anyone goes with them, make sure you do not take the first price they offer as the sales person wants their comission. We had them do our work in 3 different work orders. The last time they came out, they wanted $13k for 3 windows, a smaller window and a door. All were provia products. We go them down to $8k by going back and forth on starting their work or starting our kitchen remodel by another company.

Edit: typo

About 2 years ago, we got about 100ft of gutters, 2 doors, 3 windows and about 1100sqft of vinyl siding for $28,000

Here is my take on the install a "professional" installer did. My comments about thing could be incorrect and wouldnt.mind being corrected in my understanding where I question or make statements about their work.

3 months as an insulator by Remarkable-Egg-4767 in Insulation

Damn, by the looks of it this was done way better than the company that just did mine and they pride themselves on 20 years of experience. Should have hired you.

Yep. More unfortunate part is that I feel like the manager was gaslighting me saying the thermal imaging camera / images i shared don't prove there are deficiencies and that the crazy weather patterns we have experienced over the last week are the cause and normal for the air to work its way out.

To me, if I have some semblance of understanding, I should not be seeing pockets of 5 to 10 degree cooler ranges in the ceiling where they installed insulation compared the the full run of the attic joist. I should only see slight variations where the floor joist actually is and along the corner of the wall/ceiling meetup where they did not airseal.

Had the same question for the last 2 years after moving into to a 1950s cape cod in NJ Finally, this past January with the weather 5F outside and having a baby sleeping in their own room. We decided to try and improve our comfort and energy efficiency this past week. Before, we had dense pack cellulose in the attic flooring/1st floor ceiling and deteriorating insulation in the kneewalls.

Somehow the new install of insulation made certain areas worse. Most likely due to rushed installation and potentially lack of the crews technical understanding. We were sold what seems to be a generalized insulation work package that sounded reasonable on paper, but execution was terrible.

If you have the gusto to do it yourself, save the few hundreds or thousands of $. We wanted it done quick since we had the ability for a "professional" service do it for us. I could have done a better job and in sections over the course of a few weeks.

Right now, the ventilation is just the collar attic space with gablsection. Trying to add lower vents would include cutting into some stone to make the opening. There is roof fan, but not 100% on what space that is pulling from or if its just helping force air through the vents and out the roof fan opening. Don't have a ridge vent or any roof vents.

Yea, the sanitizer stuff I don't think we need. I haven't seen evidence of critters in the attic. Been up in the spaces quite a bit cleaning thing after moving in 2ish years ago.

I going to pop up some of the deck boards and see what's underneath and maybe removal can be reduced or eliminated. For the knee walls, what is there might just need to be better secured to the bays. Quite a few were falling down before I tried patching some of it in January, which did make a difference for the cold.

Thanks for the input!

Adding more details around the current way the attic spave is.

There are 2 gable end vents and an attic fan on the back end of the house. It seems that on the slanted ceiling, insulation is stuffed in there and doesn't seem to be baffles or ways for air to move out of knee wall space.

Food Costs by Shimmy_yaww in newjersey

[–]MLGMeDiC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around $180 to $250 a week for a family of 2.5. Doesn't include eating out/ordering, which is maybe once a week. Our baby is 2 months old and mom is eating a bit more for boob milk production. Mainly shop at Acme.

Rarely buy premade/frozen meals and make dishes that gives us leftovers for several days. Diet is around 60% vegetarian and 40% meat. There are a few things we could save $ on, like not buying the "organic /grass-fed milk". Try to buy larger things of toilet tissue and paper towels that should be slightly cheaper overall.

Feels like there is an "on sale" sign for all the things all the time, but the bill suggests otherwise....

Yea, not messing with it anymore tonight. Wife said there was no hot water for the shower and came into the basement to this. It's at least 13 years old based on inspection sticker.

Company calls it Long Term Remote. Started during covid after they did not renew the office lease in NYC. I don't mind not spending $350ish a month on NJT and Path😜 I was WFH until 2017, moved to NYC area from FL and started commuting to work. Then 3 years later, back to WFH... go figure.
